    Hello,

I know you all probably are very busy a lot of the time but I would appreciate it if some of you could help me out with an issue I have with my PC.

I built this pc a while ago, back in June. Since I built the PC I've tried a number of Anti-Virus solutions and none of them have been success at keeping my computer safe and running well.

I tried McAfee and that was terrible, sending my cpu usage up to 68% IDLE. I uninstalled (though I'm afraid I might not have done it very successfully :S) and tried out Panda Antivirus.

This turned out similar, and I was unable to unlock most of panda because of the terrible registration system on their site.

Both of these were complete packages. Including a privacy service, firewall and process guard.

I've also installed Avast! Antivirus since, and I noticed when it ran it said I had not enough system resources (permissions) to install the program (or even uninstall) completely.

I've also noticed in Battlefield 2, it says that I do not have enough O/S Permissions, and this is usually caused by a conflict with an anti-virus.

So, either avast, mcafee, and panda are the culprits. I tried with no antivirus installed and I have the same problem. What I need you people to help me do is to locate a suitable removal tool for all these anti virus applications (and their relevant firewall and process guard and privacy tool) and aid me in running them.

Also, if it would not be too much trouble, I'd like some recommendations on a good (and free) antivirus solution.

I'm really looking forward to a swift reply as I was forwarded here by a friend.

    Thankyou so much in advance,

    Rai Butera.

Thankyou, so far I can be sure that I have no mcafee left on my PC. All that left is panda and avast.

Sorry for the double post, but I've also just noticed whenever I type "cmd" or "regedit" in run... it comes up with regedit.com or cmd.com not cmd.exe.

Both .coms slow down my pc to a halt.

I don't recommend running 2 antivirus's on top of each other, you get all kinds of conflicts when you have 2 active. Choose one and get rid of the other. This may help with that last problem

Class57 ~ Please bare in mind that Majorgeeks ( this forum your on ) is only a small part of what the site is about, the main part of Majorgeeks is the software downloads pages, where you will find most things, so we do like if at all possible, links to software that are currently in our database of app, if not then outside links are the way to go.
