    I am another victim of Antivirus Pro 2009. I have tried my best to follow the steps outlined by Major Geeks for Malware removal but the only program I can get to run is CCleaner. Every program I try to download and run will not start up - Active Scan, Spybot, Malwarebytes. I have tried downloading and installing these not only on the internal hard drive but also on on external drive. I have tried efforts in both Safe Mode and normal. I have tried to delete the Antivirus Pro with the Add/Remove function in Control Panel. It just seems that the malware has protected itself from any effort I have learned from reading other threads.
    The computer is a HP - Compaq tc4400 Pentab running XP. Panda is the resident antivirus program.
    I am writing this request from a second computer. The pentab seems to function almost normally but the red circle X message continues to pop up from the task bar.
    Your help is earnestly requested.

    Use the notes in the below as a reference and try ALL steps. Attach logs from what you can run. Some steps will work. Just keep in mind one important fact, without at least one starting log, we cannot even begin to help you. So make sure you really attempt ALL steps.
    ===============================

    Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
