Antivirus XP 2009

    My Desktop became infected with this virus. I tried to remove it with Charter Security Suite. I thought that I had. Now, when I try to reboot the computer starts to load, then shuts down. As soon as my wallpaper comes up, I get a screen telling me that windows is saving my settings and then shuts down. Is there anything that can be done, other than a complete rebuild? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Computer will not go into Safe Mode either.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

    Have you tried booting using Last Known Good Configuration?

    Have you tried booting in using Safe Mode with Command Prompt?

    If neither of the above allow you to boot at all, then you can try the below to restore an older set of registry hives from before the problem began:

    Thanks for the info. I did try those things and no luck. I got a new recovery disc from Sony and did a rebuild. Everything is up and running now.
