Refer to all of the below instructions and tips and try again. Make sure you really try ALL programs. Just keep one thing in mind with no logs we cannot help you and your alternative is to reinstall. Also we fixed more than a dozen of these infections everyday using the READ & RUN ME so unless you have other infections along with Antivirus XP, you should be able to run the steps. Make sure you follow steps closely and rename files like we indicate in some steps. Also make sure when you come back that you are clear on what you could and could not do. Do not confuse downloading, installing and running scans. These are three distinct steps and we need to know which parts work and which do not.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:
    1. If you run into problems trying to run theREAD & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.

thank you but the problem is i cannon install any of the programs, in fact, i cannot install anything. whenever i try to install a program i get the message , for example "spybot.exe is not a valid win32.exe program" whatever is in there is not allowing me to install them.. i'm running windows xp media center edition. also it won't allow automatic updates. i tried it in safe mode also with the same results. Also half the time the computer stops booting in the middle of loading windows and locks up. Anyway, if you have a suggestion i'd appreciate it or else i'm just gonna format and start from scratch. Thanks,
    Greg

    • Did you try renaming the installation programs?
    • Did you try running Task Manager (if it will run) and shutting killing unknown processes before trying to run the installers?
    • Did you really try all programs including MGtools.exe?
    • Did you try using a different user account? Like use the Administrator account in safe boot mode.
    • Before this problem began, did you have an antivirus installed? Which one?
    • Before this problem began, did you have an realtime antispyware protection installed? Which one?
    • Before this problem began, did you have a real firewall installed? Which one?
