Hello!!! Hey guys, great site, i had the antivirusXP2009 malware on my pc until my friend got advice from you guys and came round and removed it for me.
Now before i carry on im really unexperienced with computers but tryin my best to improve,so after re downloading avg, spyware blaster, malwarebytes and installing them ive run full system scans on avg and malwarebytes and they came up with about 14 threats each,i quarrintined them and deleted them.
There was 4 trojans and 10 tracking cookies

Now my friend seems to think theres still a problem ,and i need to learn how to do it myself,i do!
Please could you help/tell me whether there is something i still need to do to get rid!
    thankyou so much!!:confused

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

First a note! Cookies are not problems. Ignore them. You can read more about this in step 11 of this link: How to Protect yourself from malware!

If you wish to fully check your PC for malware, please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.

    next!!!!
ive gone in to add remove programs to get rid of old versions of sun java when i click on java6 update 2 to remove it , it comes up with error loading C:\PROGRAM~1/COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\engine\6\INTEL3~1\Ctor.dll ?
could this be linked to msconfig?? or selective start?

Just select Normal Startup and reboot. Does your PC come up in Normal Boot Mode or does it boot in safe mode.

As instructed just continue on thru all instructions.

As Chaslang stated...just continue on with the instructions...you can run them in safe mode, but we can not help without seeing the requested logs.
