Any advice for spooldr.sys?

    Hi there-

I've read several of the threads about removing a file called spooldr.sys. My computer has bluescreened about four times in the past two days, and a couple times when I have restarted, it tells me it might be due to this "spooldr.sys" file. I'm frustrated, clueless, and terrified. I've followed all the "read and run me first" guidelines, and I just wanted to post my log results from HighjackThis in hopes that someone could tell me if there is something more I need to do. So far my system is running fine, but the BSOD has occurred without any warning or much of a symptom except that suddenly it gets very slow and then goes blue. Thank you very much for any feedback you may have!

If so then continue by attaching the logs for:
    SAS
    MBAM
    RootRepeal
    ComboFix
    C:\MGLogs.zip

I am not seeing any malware in your logs. We can clean off some junk, but you will need to post in the software forum to get assistance with your BSOD issue.

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

Since you are not having any malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real-time protection. They are useful as backup scanners. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    8. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures in step 3 the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore ato create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

    Hi Tim-

Thank you for the feedback. I ran HJT the way you said, then saved the text you told me to the desktop. It gave me this message: "Cannot import C:\Documents and Settings\Rachel\Desktop\fixME.reg: The specified file is not a registry script. You can only import binary registry files from within the registry editor."

Should I continue with the rest of your instructions? or wait til you tell me how to work that out first? Thank you SO much for your help with this. I'll wait to hear from you!

    Did you do that?

HJT should have taken care of it anyway, but you can double check by running the C:\MGTools\analyse.exe and see if those items are still there.

I copied the bold text, saved it to the desktop, and when I double clicked it I got the error message I quoted last time. Should I move on to the final step, or do I need to work that out first? Thank you!

The problem is the blank line above the REGEDIT4 line. The REGEDIT4 line needs to be the first line.

You can just move on if you cannot get it to work. As timW said, HJT probably already removed them.
