Any geeks in Kingston, NY or surrounding area

Hey all... wondering if we had any geeks in that area as I am looking for some information.

May be looking for real estate in that general area and am looking for someone local who maybe able to get me pointed in the right direction.

If not, no biggie, I have a few lines out.

Thanks guys, I have been looking at a half dozen different sites tonight. I guess I am looing for someone who can give me an idea of what certain areas are like and such. I'd hate to end up in a crappy neighborhood..... already in that situation.

also like to know a little more about who I am dealing with... LOL

Understand. Good ploy to get a local contact...'fraid can't help there...don't have any US friends in Kingston...perhaps you might want to consider checking out their local rag (newspaper) which often has write ups by locals of what goes on in that area which can be brutally honest (at least they are hereLOL).

Also here we have a site where you can check neighbourhood crime rate which is also noted in our local rag...gives you an idea of what different suburbs are like...local rags can be pretty informative for real estate as well noting good/bad areas...that's something else you may want to think about.

Thanks. I have a couple friends out in that area, but hesitate to ask only because I know that they are good friends with our current landlord and don't want to start any undue drama (which it would if he found out and nothing happened)

One nice thing about the internet tho.... if I end up getting the new job and moving, I can still chat with all of you

Always wondered... why do you call it a rag? Where did that terminology come from, as it means something far less wholesome on this side of the puddle...

True. Depending on how Rag is used, it can have a range of meanings from old clothes to a shabby person, etc.

"To rag" (from 19th Century England) meant to abuse or gossip about a person's character by tearing it apart like a rag...same term is used today, but not always in such a mean manner.

When you also take into consideration that rags were converted to pulp for making paper (I believe the same process is used today), it is easy to see the connection of how the slang "local rag" come into being for local newspaper.

That's a good summation I love word origins. I wont tell you what it means here, but it's a mess.

 

If i do leave, it will be to take a really nice salary job with the SmartStyle division of Regis Salons Inc.


Granted, at this time it is still a big freaking if, but I figure that being prepared is always a good thing, and it takes my mind off the fact that I am not good at being patient when it comes to waiting around for people to get back to me
