I know this year some department stores are actually opening up (for the first time) on Turkey Day; as opposed to the usual Friday sales!

In any case, thanks for the tip but I never shop on "Black Friday" anymore because it lost its appeal to me. One time a friend of mine asked me to go to a Best Buy with him for a Midnight-Madness sale; to help him carry out a 55" HDTV. Anyway, when they opened up the two tiny front doors at 12m a herd of people were tripping over each other trying to rush in. I mean it was just awful with people getting crushed in the melee.

After all that, as it turned out my friend actually wound up only saving around 25-30 bucks on that HDTV and then had to return it a week later because it turned out to be defective... bummer :-o

Nope. I hate shopping, and I find it utterly ridiculous that people get injured every year fighting over some stupid thing that's on sale. Spend time with your families, and be thankful for what you already have. That is, after all, what Thanksgiving is *supposed* to be about.

I don't do the doorbuster sales. I doubt I'll do anything this year due to my finances.

Funny, I never get trampled by the crowd while shopping on line. :D

Black Friday is America's version of The Running Of The Bulls - except no innocent animals get hurt. :-D

So true, gman... I saw a very well-done special cable TV news program about the 'Running of the Bulls' a few years back - I think it was in 2009 or 2010, when someone got killed during it. There are many injuries but as for human deaths it's actually pretty rare believe it or not. I think I remember them saying that there have only been like 15 or so deaths since the early 1900's. Considering how dangerous and confusing it likely gets out there during the run, I think that the 15 number is amazingly low for such chaotic circumstances.
