You haven't posted quite enough info, my friend.

    Try this though:

    1) Make sure both computers are in the same workgroup. You can do this in XP by right clicking my computer, and selecting properties. On the computer name tab, press network ID and follow the wizard. In 9x, you can right click network neighbourhood and select properties. On the identification tab, you can set the workgroup.

    2) Ensure file and printer sharing is enabled. This is set by default in XP, but in 9X you right click network neighbourhood and select properties. Press the file and print sharing button, and check both boxes that appear.

    3) Select folders to share. Right click any folders you wish to share and select sharing and security. Then, check the box beside share this folder on the network. It should now appear in my network places and/or network neighbourhood.

    4) You may also need to give your machines internal IPs. This is so that your internet connection can be shared, and the ICS or NAT host can translate them into an IP for use on the internet. I would recommend setting them to something like 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.101 This is done in the TCP/IP settings of each network card.

Thanks for the reply. I have no network in control panel, no sharing when I right click on hard drive or printer. both are in mshome workgroup. network neighborhood is on the desktop, but when I right click properties is not an avaible option.
    thanks

Hmmm...I've not encountered this problem before, but it is definitely not normal. Someone had a similar problem here though. You might try searching the forums for text like you just posted.

What I can advise you is to visit

and follow the steps outlined in this thread. This will make sure that you're free from malware infection.
