    Hi all.
I hope I am in the right place for this. I am not very technical. I have two basic cellphones, am not very knowledgeable about them. I am just wanting a cell phone that has video capability and some audio recording capability. Just for taking pictures of family, pets, ect. and for recording conversations, family singing maybe, those kinds of things. I don't do a lot of those things, but just when the occasion may arise. I don't need to connect to the internet and am not looking for a smart phone, not even sure what that is. I am hoping that some of you could suggest a cell phone that can do those things, and for a very affordable price. I don't want to be tied into a contract. Thank you for any suggestions.

You have a number of options. I've never bought a prepaid phone, but you can get them most places like Best Buy, Walmart, etc.

Here's a site I found when searching 'prepaid phones with no monthly costs': http://www.tracfone.com/

I think most phones (even the non smartphones) have photo and video.

Again, I've never owned on, so I don't know much about how they work, but I'd think you just pay for your minutes.

    Hi

Great question and basic non smartphones have some limited capabilities, so while your not wanting a smartphone, I would honestly look at one for the tasks you mention, you don't have to use the internet option if you don't want, just disable it in the options menu (my mom does this with the iPhone I gave her)

Can get some Nokia Lumia 520's for sub $70 but may depend what network you are on and what you wish to spend also.

Some ideas HERE at Amazon on pre-pay no contract phones, one may do all you need for the price you are willing to pay.

I'd advise not buying a smart phone if you're not going to use the web. Most cell providers will charge you for web service whether you use it or not with a web-centric phone. There are plenty of phones these days that have a camera that's capable of both video stills, as well as audio. If you can't find one that does audio then just record a video. Do keep in mind that this is the digital equivalent as a 110 instamatic camera was in the film days. Low quality, often soft images, yet it's there and you can remember the fun of it all. A large percentage of the cheaper cell phones have cameras these days. As per the no contract thing you're looking at something like a Tracphone, a StraightTalk phone, a GoPhone, or the like. They are no contract phones that you pay for the phone in advance then you're required to either purchase minute cards (tracphone, etc..) or buy monthly blocks of unlimited time (StraightTalk, etc...). If you don't use very many minutes in a month and you don't need the internet then a charge by minute block type phone would be your least expensive option. TracPhone has some sort of deal that your minutes don't expire for a year, but you pay for that up front. If however you do a lot of talking on your phone then an unlimited minutes, monthly charge type phone would be your best bet. No matter what phone type/system you go for make absolutely sure that it will have coverage in the area that you plan to use it the most. Buying a phone on a whim when you're on a long trip might prove to be a bad idea because that phone was sold in that area because that's where it had service, yet it doesn't ensure that you'll have service at home at all. I have StraightTalk. For a standard phone with no internet access I can buy service for $30 a month for unlimited text and talk. If I have a smartphone (iPhone, Android Phone, or Windows Phone) it won't let me buy service for $30 a month, but rather $45 a month for unlimited text, talk, and internet. If I remember correctly I can also get unlimited text, talk, internet, and some international calling (might be unlimited, might not, didn't pay attention) for $50 a month or something close to it. So getting a smart phone and just not using the internet is just buying internet service that you won't use. I'd say just get a standard phone and save some money.

What phones do you have currently? They may have cameras already.
