...Im using the same old Socket370 with a pentium III 933mhz running at 1Ghz via 147mhz FSB....
lately i bought an old celeron 733mhz that runs under 66mhz FSB...and an 11.0x multiplier....
thinking if i could run it at 133mhz FSB by cutting BSEL pins under it..just like many sites ive read bout it....so that it wil run at 1.5+Ghz, and thats a great increase....so i did it....
...the problem was, after pins wer cut, it didnt POST....
but stil was working ok b4 i did that pin-cutting....

...wondering if its the Processor that i broken, or my mainboard that doesnt suport speeds that high....

maybe ther are other solutions, i really need help....

    what shuld i do?

You cut pins on the cpu? Thats a bad idea, and its likely broken now. Even if people say thats a valid overclocking method, i disagree.

...oh...but i think it stil shud work....i just need to test it on other boards compatible with Socket370....i was just thinking that if it could work on celeron 1ghz's, it should also do on 733's...only varies in FSB's though...

but i really think its the board that doesnt suport it...coz it's only an old, not-so-popular brand....and its features i cant even search online, which really tells me its the tells me its the board...

...i tried switching voltages but only on by the pins under it..coz my bios dont suport it...i cant even find a flash update for it, its a phoenix bios rev 6.0,....

forgot to say, its a second hand, old system, so i really expect nothing on it...thats why i need to download some overclocking apps i order to overclock...

...stil cant tell if my cel's broken, unless tested on other boards...

...and i dont care bout the risk of trying, as long as it should work...:)
..i just need info's, and if its really broken, then ther's nothing i can do with it...:cry

The Celerons tested on websites and ur Celeron might be on diffrent architechtures, ur Celeron is a coppermine where as 1.0ghz Celerons cud be either a Coppermine or a Tualatin. Either one i dont think cutting pins are such a good idea....

...its a cumine....a 733mhz at 66mhz but i shud expect it to run at 1.463ghz at 133mhz coz the pins wer cut off,...i'm stil trying to test it on other boards...i'll update wen it works on other mobos...

yeah, i also thought it wasnt a good idea in the first place too, but if its worth the risk then why not try...celerons are cheap nowadays, besides, ive stil got my pIII 933mhz@1ghz working fine, even though with those capacitors removed,...it's stil working...

i just wanted to know if i can overclock up to 1.5ghz...but if i fail this thing, i'll just upgrade my PC....

anyways, thnks for the reply...i'll be posting the results soon..

...hey, i may have a solution for my oc'd celemine...i've read somthing about pinmodding, they've tried the same thing i did...but they also said that if it wont be stable, then it will be or should be needing an increase in core voltage, i've tried it once on my pIII from 1.75 to 2.05v, but no increase in freq, only overheating heatsink....well, i havent tried it yet on my celeron....
...i guess i'll try core voltage increasing first....

..i'll might also need a good heatsink...
