Does anyone know how, or if know of a good web site that can decrypt the "BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH" error codes? you kow the ones that start with

    0x00000**

and so forth, usually are in sets of 4. I leave my PC on overnight so I can listen to my online Rhapsody (internet radio thingy) and it shuts off midway through the night, and in the morning I get random BSOD with varyin combination of 0x00 codes. So rather than trouble you guys relentlessly with the multiple sets of codes, I don't want to bother you guys THAT much, I'd like to try and decipher them myself. So if you could point me in the right direction to where I can find code definitions I would be grateful. Thanks. This new pc is more trouble than what it worth, it's too bad I gave my old one away already....

Numbers like 0x0000 are actually hexadecimal numbers, and if I recall correctly, they won't do you too much good. If you were to post the entire BSOD, I'm sure we could help you much better.

Crap, and it figures that I didn't write down the basic error message at the top.... but here is the 4 lines of Hex codes

    0x80000004
    0x80530CB9
    0xB9767CF0
    0x00000000

to save my life I can't remember the error code or even what it was relating to, but like I was saying, the code changes all the time, but this one comes up more often than not. Used to get the USB_ERROR_BUGCHECK one a lot, but I got that fixed, it was my USB Wireless adapter I use to get hooked up, went to PCI Wireless and the USB error went away, but now I am wondering if the PCI card is causing random issues that I am now getting.

    See if THIS is relevant.

(You can check the Event Log for the exact error. Don't know what your O/S is, but Start, Run and type in eventvwr.msc )

I would also check Device Manager for any problems.

I'm sorry, I keep forgetting to include PC info.

    Windows XP Pro with SP2
    3.0 P4 1024 Cache 800FSB
    768 Ram

Thst site is somewhat helpful, but my specific code isn't listed. I appreciate the help and effort though.

I can't seem to find any Hex codes starting with the 8 (0x80000004), on the internet or otherwise. Ready to take this thing out and use it for target practice....

The site is a guide only.

There are so many variations, it only lists the common ones, and gives you the theory behind the parameters so you can troubleshoot.

Anyway, have you checked Device Manager and the Event Log?

Not yet, I kinda slacking at work  but as soon as I get home I'm going to do that. There was a forum here somewhere on where to DL some stuff to view the .DMP files for exact error codes. I gotta look around for that again.

Not sure what you mean, but Adrynalyne wrote an article on how to debug memory dumps HERE.

Ok, this windows de bugger program is quite usefull. After loking over certain things and running some of the codes found, I have determined that it is a problem with a driver being used for my USB wireless hookup. Which makes sense since when installing, it told me that this software has not been tested with Windows XP blah blah blah. Well thank you all for the help, hopefully when my PCI wireless, this will be resolved.

Totally off subject of the forum, but I didn't feel the need to start a new forum fro this question... You can obviously read various Temperature resings using the start up BIOS, is there a program that lets me see the temps going on inside while I am already in full swing, I'd like to compare idle temps with temps while burning a disc, or watching/streaming video. Hope no body gets upset for out of post question like this.

It's your post, you can ask what you like.

We have some HERE and more if you search the downloads section.

They aren't as accurate as a temperature diode obviously, but will still give you a good idea.
