Any Printer People Out There?

15 to 20 times a year I have 4000 8.5 x 11 mailers printed on glossy card stock black and white on both sides. A year ago I was paying 450.00 or just over 11 cents a peice folded. The price has been going up and today I paid $600.00 or 15 cents a piece for the same amount on the same paper. Would it be cost effective for me to buy a good HP or Konica Laser Jet and print them myself and pay to have them folded? Would color cost much more per page? I've seen printers rang in price from $700.00 to $1700. that would serve my needs. Any ideas?

well, considering you can get ~11000 (estimated) pages through my Brother laser per toner drum, and each cartridge costing around 60-70 a piece...

I'd say thats one helluva savings. I don't know how much the paper costs though.

We just went through the starter toner that came with it several months ago. It wasn't a full catridge, mind you, and we got 1000 copies out of it.

Mileage may vary, but I can see a big savings here.

As for color, its gonna cost a lot more, for the machine, too.
