any software available?

today is my first post. my handle tells it all, im NOT a geek. i could be called computer illerite. is there any software available that i can use to scan my hard copy books and then convert them into an e-book? i have an unmanageable amount of books and want to convert them to ebooks so i can reduce the volume it takes to store the books. ive bought several pieces of software that the people at some computer stores told me would do what im wanting to do, but they wont work, even support tells me you cant do what i want with their software. i do not intend to sell copies of ebooks, just to reduce the space required to store them. thank you !

 

Surely, software came with your scanner. And, I would think it might work as well as some software you could buy separately. Have you worked with the software that came with your scanner?

This doesn't make sense. Are you saying you can't physically open a book, place it on your scanner, and scan a page?

BTW, I can't imagine doing what you want to do; it would be way to time-consuming, IMO.

 

Some scanners' software can collate sequential scans into a single pdf document- like a book; this might prove to be an easier solution. So, as usafveteran said, you might want to look deeper into the scanning configuration options.

And yes, it would be extremely time-consuming, since you would have to manually scan each page (or facing pages); it would take many, hours to scan even a few books. I recently had to scan an old scientific journal that was falling apart; I hated it.....and it was only about 60 pages. Can't imagine what you'd have to go through.

There might be professional services that do this for a fee..worth looking into it.
