It's been far too long without my net-book & I've lost hair over it. :-D
I still need some insight into how to run grub4dos.
All I wanted to do is repair the missing/corrupt file on boot-up... (windows/system32/config/system).

    I've tried a few app's & this "grub4dos" is the furthest that I've got.
    Can any1 help? :(:(:(

I don't know much about GRUB4DOS, but from the little I do know, it is simply a boot manager, but I could be wrong. I'm not sure how using it will fix a boot error like windows/system32/config/system missing or corrupt. Here's their wiki page:
    http://grub4dos.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Grub4dos_tutorial
It has most of the uses for GRUB4DOS outlined and explained. Maybe if you can explain why you need to use GRUB4DOS to fix your current problem, or why you think it will help, we may be able to offer some advice or a course of action.

    Cheers dude. ;)
I tried another app too, called "WinToFlash". I've got no ASR & all I get after going through the motion's is a blue screen stop telling me to check disk's for viruses & inconsistencies.
All I want to do is repair "windows/system32/config/system" :(
But it won't boot at all.
    :cry

Yeah, repairing corrupt "config/system" file errors is not usually an easy undertaking, and is rarely successful. Even a repair install of Windows will rarely fix it. A company named "Winternals" used to have a bootable app called "ERD". You could boot to it and run system restore to a date before the error started, and this can frequently fix this type of error. However, Winternals has been bought out by Microsoft, and ERD is no longer available (as far as I know) but you may be able to buy it somewhere if you look for it. You can also try the steps outlined here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=307545
Be sure to read ALL THE WAY thru the steps several times before starting the procedure; print it out if possible; it's a VERY involved set of instructions.

    Good luck!

    Hi-ya. ;)
I've been to the MS page before, but I didn't follow it up because I don't know if the NB uses OEM.
MS point out NOT to use the described configuration if I use OEM.
All I know is that the NB ran XP Home.
