    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

You are using MSconfig which we specifically ask the you not do in step 7 of the READ ME. Please run MSconfig and select Normal Startup. Then reboot and attach a new log from HijackThis.

Also please download the current version of ShowNew (from the link in the READ ME) and get a new log from it. Attach it here.

Your version of Windows is way out of date and represents a major security risk to you. Why haven't you installed any of the Windows XP updates? Don't do any right now while malware is present but I would like to understand why you have not updated.

Ok, i have time to explain now sorry for not explaining my issue yesterday. I went away for the weekend and i allowed my little brother to use my computer. Came home sunday to a bunch of viruses and spyware and ... who knows what. Havn't talked to him yet and have no clue what he d/l

Ran throught READ & RUN ME FIRST and posted my logs in my prior post.

played some games yesterday was running ok.

got homw this morning and when i startup AVG7 updates and comes up with virus called WININET.dll , so i did a heal and restarted and now on startup i get errors saying:
*This application has failed to start because WININET.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

individual error for 3 programs i think. aol, msnmsessenger and jusched.exe

and now my games dont work such as steam and other online games.

Sorry for not having updates, current windows im running cant get updates. will be fixing this in a couple months :)

    3 files attached
my new hijack this log in normal boot
new shownew log in normal boot
and a picture that shows yet another problem im havingon startup (i think it may be caused by prevx?

any help is very much appriciated.

SOunds like AVG7 was not able to "heal" the infection and they deleted the file. You need this file and will have to get a copy back onto your PC. Something I will have you run below (SpywareQuake procedure) may do this automatically if it can find a spare copy on your PC. Otherwise you will have to get one from your Windows CD.

You did not download the new version of ShowNew first. I need a new log after you download the new version of the program. So please get the new version and attach a log from it.

Now run this SpywareQuake & SpyFalcon Removal Procedure and attach the requested smitfiles.txt log.

You probably will not find any of the bad files listed. That's okay just work thru the whole procedure anyway because the registry patch will fix some issues and the SmitRem program may help fix a few problems (like the missing wininet.dll file).

Now Make sure viewing of hidden files is enabled (per the tutorial).

Run HijackThis and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://searchbar.findthewebsiteyouneed.com

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.
Boot into safe mode and use Windows Explorer to delete:
    C:\Program Files\webHancer<--- the whole folder
    C:\kybrdff_7.exe

If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. If it is, uncheck it and try again. Other wise open Task Manager and kill the process if running then delete the file.

Now if running Win XP goto c:\windows\Prefetch and delete all files in this folder.
Now run Ccleaner (installed while running the READ ME FIRST).

Now we need to Reset Web Settings:
    1. If you have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, goto step 2. If not, skip to step 3.
    2. Now right click on your desktop Internet Explorer icon and select Properties. Then click the Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK. Then skip step 3.
    3. If you do not have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, click Start, Control Panel (for some systems it may be Start, Settings, Control Panel), Internet Options, Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK.
Now reboot in normal mode and post a new HJT log.

Make sure you tell me how things are working now.

Reminder Note: Once we have determined you are malware free you will need to disable System Restore, reboot, and re-enable system restore per step 1 of the READ & RUN ME. This only applies to if using WinXP or WinMe.
