It was listed in the daily digest of software from Majorgeeks a couple of days ago.

I downloaded it and scanned my XP Pro machine as it has slowed down to a crawl. After following the instructions in the Malware section, and having the relevant logs declared healthy, I uninstalled infrequently used applications.

I didn't really expect that to make an improvement, and it didn't.

The description by "incode solutions", the seller, sounded as if it might help.

During scanning it coughed up a great number of malware items, taking several hours to complete. "Fixing" them required that I bought the software. I did.

Fixing the alleged problems also took a very long time.

It made no difference whatsoever to the low speed problem and it deleted many of my applications and files.

    Has anyone else used it?

    Hi

Not used the app as its a personal choice not to use AIO (all in one) apps for speeding up a PC as I don't think they work at all and if they do its minor.

If your XP PC has slowed to a crawl and they cleaner AIO app didn't work then you have more deep routed issues and most can be down to startup apps, too many security apps installed and a fragmented HDD.

A few things to kick off with are:

    1. Make sure XP is fully upto date with all udpates
    2. run the below as this will give us an idea of what apps you have at boot starting as they are a primary cause of slowness

    3. If malware is highlighted then the below is worth running and make sure you start a new thread in the malware forum area and attach all the logs requested.

If you are given the all clear in malware forum area and your PC is still slow please repost in this thread and we can continue with other ideas.

Yes, the system was given a clean bill of health after running the various programs mentioned in the Malware section.

There are not many applications which run a start up, and none have been added for a long time, and one or two more were removed from start-up during my investigations. The reduction in overall speed happened comparatively recently.

I have tried Black Viper's "safe" recommendations but no difference was observed.

I am in the process of transferring wanted files and software to a new machine.

Once that has been done I think I will be easier if I simply reinstall XP on this machine. It will be useful for off-line work.

    Hi

I have to say then if you have tried all the options then that PC is slow and will never become quicker as your current pc as hardware and software changes, re-install of XP may help but its the bloat 3rd party apps you install that will slow XP down.

Thank you both for your interest.

I forgot to mention that the machine recently became slower and slower without any changes having been made. There have been other things on my mind too, so I may have overlooked other things which may or may not have had a bearing on the problem.

But I've had a belly-full of it and I will shortly start from scratch with a reinstallation.
