Anyone In Philadelphia, PA?

    I am going down with a couple friends to see a concert and am trying to find a good hotel. Hopefully someone can help. My needs are somewhat simple:

    Concert is at Trocadero, 1003 Arch St, looks like it is near everything, see image attached.

    Basically, we want a good location, both near the venue and near other attractions since were coming in early to wander around.

    We want a place that has huge suites, the 3 of us are going to rent a big ass room and split it rather then some generic 39.95 room each, so that eliminates a lot of the typical chains. Party!

    Anyone have any ideas on a specific hotel by change or at least areas to look for or stay away from?

    Well, for one thing, don't stay in the vicinity of the Troc. It is right in the center of Chinatown, which is pretty crummy, and not really the nicest place, especially at night.

    The Troc is my second home. I've seen probably a hundred shows there. It is really a great place to see bands because the acoustics are amazing. It's pretty small inside. It is very historic and was actually a popular theater many many years ago.

    Also, if you're driving to the Troc, watch where you park. Some of the lots are pretty shady. There are actually guys that pose as parking attendants and will just have you park in a spot anywhere and ask for money.

    Not a whole hell of a lot within walking distance, theres the Gallery, about a block away, which is a huge shopping mall that also has bus/train stations underneath.

    Who are you going to see? Doesn't look like anything decent for the month of Oct except for maybe Soulfly and Mindless Self Indulgence, who I'm going to try and catch at the Starland Ballroom in Sayerville, NJ.

    Stryper :) Saw em here 2 weeks ago and we want more. I have some hotels in mind that I am looking at, ill get back to you tommorow on which ones. Thanks!

    Yeah, actually that's pretty close.

    The Frankilin Plaza is nice too and in the same general vicinity. My High School prom was held there. http://www.wyndham.com/hotels/PHLFP/main.wnt

    Stryper? Weren't they like Chrisitian Metal? About two years ago a freind and I were at HOB in Chicago for dinner and Stryper was playing later that night. I didn't even know they were still around, but they obviously must have a pretty large fan base because the line to get in to the show was like a mile long!

    You'll love the Troc. It's also the only venue left in Philly that hasn't been bought and ruined by Clear Channel.

    Yup, Christian Metal. New album, lot more modern sounding and they put on a great show. I saw Wyndham, I will choose between the two. Thanks for your help.

    Adrynalyne, your not near Philly are you? Ill glad meet up with anyone there thats in the area.

    Man, I havn't listened to Stryper since their song To Hell With The Devil came out.

    Just got home from Philly yesterday. I was back there for my cousin's wedding for a week with the kids. Was a good visit. Too bad it didn't coordinate with your concert! One of these days Eric and I are going to just have to take a trip out the Syracuse.
