anyone into american idol?

hi! im new around here... Anyone watch American Idol? i think the top 3 will be the 2 rockers and the blond haired girl. Im also into heavy metal and alternative music... and believe it or not Im over 40 but think more like a 25 year old.

(I love him ....he sings well and he did Bohemiam Rhapsody great) I thought the big guy should have been out.I was surprised to see Bo in the bottom 3!You just never know! What the heck were people thinking, putting Bo in bottom 3??? I think a lot of his votes went to constantine this week. Also, watching tonight's show, I don't think Bo did himself any favors by acting like he didn't give a s***.

I really don't care if Bo or Constantine wins, I like them equally. I'm pretty sure that carrie will be second to one of them. I think all 3 will have successful careers.

 

Yup! I think one of the rockers should win! I thought Bo sang that Black Crowes song better then the first time.He didnt impress me tho singing Freebird but I think the big guy-the blond haired guy should have been in the bottom 3.I dont know who I would have picked for the third.Definetly not the rockers...They are a breath of fresh air....American Idol needs those guys!

 

Funny you say that.....a couple of weeks ago we were bowling a team thats into Idol and wants Bo to win.They know the guy who dropped out at last minute.Apparently seeing him audition he had a few offers and he figured he d quit so he wouldnt have to contract with Idol for 10 years-more money etc for him!So you are right...top 3 are the losers! As for Bo not giving a crap....well.....dont most rockers have that attitude? haha! HE s not as good as Constantine and I also loved the way Constantine sang that Partridge family song. I think Simon was just jealous!Yup! If anyone hasnt noticed- Im in love with Constantine! The black girl that had to leave well... I thought she was pretty good...the first few weeks she really impressed me.the other black girl didnt...These last few weeks tho she seemed to improve and the big afro black girl got boring...not enough spunk for song choices I think.She definetly can sing tho. Anwar Im up in the air with...sometimes hes good sometimes he s so so.He does choose good songs that show his voice range and thats a plus for him. Last year I thought Diana De Garmo was great! she was cute...bubbly...a terrific personality.Too bad she messed up the last night....Fantasia is good but she gets wild!see her on the show last week!? wow! I voted for De Garmo so many times on that last nite i cant even begin to think how many calls I made! I still dont think its a true outcome of votes for any particular person being you can vote as many times as you like for them.you would think there would be a way thats more fair and true to life if you know what I mean! Anyway.....I look forward to next weeks show!

Bo is great....love Carrie's voice too....Constantine is great too but does he have to look constantly stoned? LOL

Nadia did herself no favors singing a song that no-one knew at this stage.

 

Ha ha! I think the stoned look is common for a lot of rockers!To me it just seems he knows how to look into the camera-you know...that sexy dreamy smile of his! Funny-the first time I saw him I thought "yuck" but he has really grown on me.....I always fell for those long-haired guys!

Nadia is good but I dont believe she ever sang a song that shows off her voice...they need to do that and when they asked about her last song choice....she did it for her fans...well...you want to get more fans so her logic just wasnt good...Im sure we ll see her somewhere down the line.

 

We get American Idol here as well as Australian Idol. I watched most of the American Idol episode last night before falling asleep. I am not addicted to the show so cannot name all the top 7 left. Notice Simon gave the blonde girl one of the biggest raps he has ever given any singer. Hope it is not the kiss of death for her. Bazza

 

i'm not a fan of American Idol especially after reading this. "You know in the Matrix how Morpheus says the beginning of the end was the creation of AI? He says basically that what started the machines taking over was human's fascination with AI.....

The blonde haired girl-Carrie I thought was superb...She sang Pat Benetars 'love is a battlefield' just as well as PB did! I think that was a great song choice. She can sing without sounding 'country-ish' Shes the best female there since the beginning!

A lot of people may watch American Idol but most dont seem to want to admit it! I find it enjoyable especially when they sing songs that I know! Its fun to compare and see how they make the song 'their own'. Im big into music and anyone who likes musical talent shows certainly would enjoy the singing and suspense of who will be the next to leave. And...Simon...he s a rip! He does make the show more worthwhile!

i was surprised too that Bo was in the bottom three. However, i didn't see the episode last Tuesday (the first time i ever missed Idol).. And the red hair kid- John Stevens? Yeah, he kept surprising me whenever he turned out to be "safe". I guess everyone in his school voted for him every week. lol..

At first i also thought Nadia was great (especially when she did one of Beyonce's songs at the beginning). But i guess she gradually went downhill.
Meanwhile, Vonzell is becoming better and better each week. I guess people voted for her more instead of Nadia last tuesday just like they voted for Constantine more than Bo. I think each contestant should be regarded as individuals. The problem is everyone compares Constantine with Bo, Vonzel with Nadia and Carrie was compared with Jessica Sierra (the girl who went out a couple of weeks ago).

I voted for Diana DeGarmo too!! and Jasmine Trias. I voted for those two only although i also liked JPL (the guy who did the funny dance with the Elvis song). To be honest, i dont really like Fantasia. It's her voice i don't like...

Hmmm.. is that why Mario mysteriously quit the show??

Everyone seem to want "the fat guy" and the "blond hair guy" out.. i dunno, IMO i think Anthony can sing well and has a good voice... just my opinion..

I remember jpl...my boyfriend liked him but he didnt impress me.Remember Jennifer Hudson (I think that was her name)? I thought she was pretty good just like Jasmine! Im so bad with names....I remember tho that other black girl that was voted off and everyone was shocked! I believe Simon said at the beginning she should win the competition and look what happened,surely somebody had to sign her up! At the time I thought she was best.

The blond haired guy....I dunno...he s made mistakes-usually he picks good songs to sing but sometimes it seems to me he s pushing his voice too much (straining).Actually I think the big guy does the same...they re picking good songs but I dunno...I think they dont have it compared to who s left.

just tonite I heard a story going around about Anwar...they found out he s gay and supposedly its in the news, so he s upset that its going to affect how people vote now that its 'public'. I wouldnt think that in this day and age that it would affect him' I mean I would think most people dont care one way or the other! I remember reading in magazines last year that they thought Fantasia wouldnt win because she was an unwed mother! Come on!There are plenty of women in the same situation. 'SO WHAT' Give me a break...they were wrong on that one!

I also think youre right that they are getting paired off against each other...I was surprised to see the other blond haired girl go that soon..The black girl with the big hair she was in the bottom 3 a couple of times so this last time I figured it would be her...not that I wanted to see her go yet...oh well....Im sure we will be in for a surprise next week too!

 

I liked Anthony Federov at the auditions. I liked Scott (the big guy) at the auditions too. I thought they both had great voices. But i guess they're not good at performing live on stage. And they've gone downhill over the past weeks too.

Anwar is gay? that could probably a rumor. Because i heard some rumor about constantine too a couple of weeks ago (before the top 12 starting singing). The rumor was that Constantine is a hired ACTOR. He is hired by the producers of American Idol to "add spice" to the show and make it more interesting and that his band is a fake. At first i believed in the rumor and didn't even pay attention to his performances. But then, of coz, i realized that it can't be true beccause he does have a band according to interviews and stuff...

yeah maybe bo's voice is a bit "rough" but that's how rockers are, right?

American Idol is full of surprises, especially this year: Mario quits, the votes get messed up, surprise bottom three, etc.

I think that those people aren't really what you would call true musicians.Do they know how to write a song?do they know a bar from a measure? what about a beat count? I highly doubt it.I believe if you truly are a musician you should be able to play an instrument or at least understand the language of music.This is just one mans opinion.Thanx!

 

I disagree. I think the creation of music comes from deep within..you don't have to learn the language of written sheet music to be a musician. Some of the greatest musicians have never learnt to read music in their life. Others were totally deaf but still wrote masterpieces.

Hint: the singing voice is an instrument you have to learn how to play. Not everyone can sing, and certainly not well until you learn and practice in it's use

 

Even people that sing who have talent know musical arraignment to put merit to this argument would you compare someone who is established as a singer say like Mariah Carey to a Britney Spears? who's only talent it appears to be is making headlines.That's what I'm tying to say here I don't believe those types of people have any kind of musical talent other than to shake there backside.What about a Jessica Simpson or Lindsay Lohan,or Hillary Duff they don't have any talent other than a pretty face.

KXLXBX...nice Beatles pic....I hafta agree with Lev tho....those who can sing-their voice is a musical instrument. There are plenty of people who are called tone-deaf for a reason! Not every guitarist or drummer can sing.Not every singer can play an instrument. Look at Jimmy Page...he was a great guitarist but he taught himself how to play...he couldnt read music then either (Im sure he does now tho . He was great! Sure...there are a lot of babes out there that are just babes..no talent! Mariah Carey has the most #1singles for a woman, I think she's great too! You hafta consider tho that a lot of the songs they sing...they never knew before. To learn a song in 1 week-to know you are singing in front of millions of people....that takes guts! I think its harder to sing in front of an audience then play an instrument in front of one. Back to the point ....its a singing competition and since Idol's making big money on it these singers have all the help they need! .

YES everyone...I listen to anything but country!!!!!!!My parents could never figure out how I go from one extreme (Devil music they call it) to the other(mild stuff).haha!

Now back to HiThere....I didnt see all the auditions.I feel tho that every singer has their own style...they make them sing all kinds of songs which may not be the kind of song they like to sing but they have to show that they can.Country girl Carrie sang Pat Benatar...not Carries way to sing but she did it well..a rock song sung by a country girl.Anwar has the soprano voice that he can get away with songs that women have sung.He does well.It's kinda like school...you learn subjects that you will never use but you have to take them anyway.Here they sing different kinds of songs that really arent their style but they have to do it to show they are 'well rounded'.

I dont watch much tv so the Ford commercials...havent seen them.. I do remember now that black woman from last year that I was talking about.I believe her name was Latoya-she should have won.

I hope that rumor about Constantine isnt true...I'd be so heartbroken! . I read somewhere that Paula and Simon have a script they follow to make the show more interesting...I also read that they should get rid of Paula because she's too easy on the singers. I find the other judge (his name I cant remember) Is harder on the contestants this year than last year...as long as this show goes on I'm sure there will be a lot of rumors!

 

Yes that is Mr.Blackie Lawless and yes you are right I am over 30,as a matter of fact I have a 16 year old son.I'm from the 80's I remember cruising the strip getting thrown out of The Rainbow in Hollywood going to all the clubs and when my music ruled the music world.People can say what they want about that time,but some of the greatest musicians off all kinds came from that era including Randy Rhoads, Steve Vai,George Lynch,Eddie Van Halen and so on some of it was crap I'll be the first to admit it,and that is what killed it.Look around today this so called "music"is absolute garbage it's all played the same,and the people will get tired of it and revolt,and when they do I'll be here ready and waiting the people are a fickle bunch.I still have black hair down to my ass play guitar and listen to my music.Long live metal long live L.A.long live real music and of course long live THE KxLxBx,and in closing wasn't it Shaquille O'neill who said "CAN YOU DIG ITTTTTT......!!!!!!!"thanx! love this site.

More of a rock person...that I am! Todays rock (they call it alternative now haha) I dont find it to be so bad...I listen to it, bands like korn...spineshank...slipnot...muse....I like some mild rap like Linkin park...Limp bizkit....Beastie boys,thats about it.Todays pop is ok...I think pop years ago was better...I probably will listen to rock when I'm in my 70's lol!

I used to play in a couple of bands.I forgot to mention Yngwie Malmsteen he is a great guitarist as well.I don't watch AI I think I would get sick I don't listen to the radio either it's absolutely awful here in the L.A. area.I'm into futbol what people in this country call soccer my fav team is Manchester United of Manchester England,my favorite national team is of course Mexico.These are the true athletes of the world and this is the greatest sport in the world.Yea I was hell back in the day,but I never got into trouble miss those days,but I still have the memories.I have a really cool montage of Ironmaiden,but it won't fit on the attachments for this site I found it on yahoo pictures.

 

You know.....I forgot to mention Metallica....I think the best band of the last 10 years or so....surely you must like them? I guess you like the Misfits,I have one of their cds,not really into punk...Iron maiden? I really wasnt into them...when I started listening to rock I think they had just put out their last album.Didnt really hear much of them on the radio.,
I always loved the songs that had the electric guitar playing a riff ( Idk the lingo ) I loved the way Motley crue did jailhouse rock...the electric guitar playing was great...ever hear it? jimmy page...I was in love with him...lol.I loved Eddie Van halen solos too. Neil Youngs Like a hurricane ( he came up with grunge first...not Nirvana haha).

Theme ideas? I think it would be interesting to see them have an opposite night...the males should sing songs that only women have sung and the females should sing something only males have sung.That would be a challenge! Maybe a R & B night.....rock only night (had to throw that one in there lol)..soul nite....maybe disco night again..I enjoyed that last year but I didnt like latin music night so much....

Metallica were the biggest and the baddest after the black album it was over.Motley Crue,I can't tell you how many times I saw them the live jailhouse rock was recorded here in the L.B.C.and yes THE KxLxBx was in the house that night.I also saw OZZY here RATT QUEENSRYCHE METALLICA and whole bunch more I have a couple of friends who play in bands and when I get a chance I go see them.I saw the American I dol thread and was just curious,then I put my 2 cents in as it were and here we are.

My step-son works putting together the big RVs.....a few weeks back he got to meet the bassist of Van Halen, who brought his RV in for some work. Cool huh?

 

I got to go to John Densmore's house in Santa Monica one day he was the drummer for The Doors.That was cool and strange at the same time.I also met the guys from Dokken once they were a wild bunch.I also had a former guitar instructor who used to hang out with Juan Crocuier from Ratt,he does some producing here in Rancho P.V. (Palos Verdes).

 

Wow...Queensryche...I used to listen to them all the time! Ratt was pretty good too! You've heard of Cindarella? On one of their cds they do Janis Joplins Move over...its unbelievable how that singer sounded so much like her! I remember Dokken.They didnt play them much here tho I do have a couple of their cds,Till the living end is my fav and dream warriors is second fav,,,I like a lot of their songs. Boy this chat brings back a lot of memories!
To meet the Van Halen bassist WOW! I hope your stepson got his autograph! To meet the doors...Dokken...etc, you're so lucky! I guess when you're in a band and in the right places you get to run into these guys at times! I'm impressed!

The only guys I got to meet like.....15-20 years ago were from the group The Cars. I used to work at a motel so I ran into them several times.The first time I wasnt paying attention to where I was going and almost collided with the guitarist! Never asked for their autographs tho.I was too shy back then!

I liked Kelly Clarkson from AI I thought she had a nice bo-bo,bunda,backyard (the booty in oher words) ha ha seriously though the cars have a song called hello again it's a really cool kind of goofy song.Cinderella I have their first 2 albums and a few of their videos,Dokken is one of my fav of all time Geoge Lynch is still my fav guitar player then Randy Rhoads,I saw Ozzy once in the L.B.C.but,he was playing with Jake E.Lee then he was no slouch though he was a good guitar player as well.

From what I've seen, Carrie was my fav. too, actually.

 

If I had watched this show for the first time last night....this would be my review.

I would put Vonzell first-she sang a difficult song and I thought it was great.
Then Bo-His voice went with the song.
I would put Constantine and Carrie in the middle.What Constantine sang didnt impress me (believe it or not lol)I thought Carrie was a little off pitch with the low range.
Scott-Anthony and Anwar I would put for the bottom 3. Scott being the first one to get booted. I think he's the least talented of the 7.

From the start I think Carrie is the best female vocal and Constantine the best male vocal. If Bo gets booted off before Constantine...then Constantine will probably get his votes.If Vonzell gets booted off before Carrie then Carrie will get Vonzells votes.

I cant wait to tune in later!

Since i missed the 70's and most of the 80's, i can't join in any of your conversations about the music of the age.

however...

Go MAN UNITED!!! i love soccer too. And i call it football too, till i came here. But i haven't had a single chance to watch the English Premiere League since i moved to the States about 2 years ago. (I don't have some of the sport channels and people in NY aren't crazy about soccer either). so i dunno what's going on in the soccer world except that Arsenal won in the EPL... last year (was it?)

 

I was never into soccer....I think the younger generation here in N.Y. is into it more then my generation. Im sure in years to come it will be a lot more popular. My now ex husband came from yugoslavia...he actually played in a league here so of course I had to go to some of the games...it just didnt appeal to me.I didnt understand football (NFL) until I was 20 (my stepdad taught me the game) and I love it! thats the game I love to watch.

Too bad you were'nt around for the 80s era. there was a lot of good bands back then. The 70s maybe late 70s is when I really started to get into rock. I was more into pop in the early 70s and a little young to remember. I.ve just 'reheard' a lot of the 70s rock bands. My older sister was into IronButterfly....I remember the name but not their music. I think 3dognight were popular back then! I cant remember a lot of them anymore.....

And btw Hithere...that rumor you mentioned about Constantine possibly being a hired actor? maybe there's something to it. I heard from some girl on line (she lives in Michigan) that she saw him on stage at a theater acting in a play which I dont remember what it was called. Someone else claimed to have seen him on a dating game show in which he lost.....Wow! whats a gal to think! lol!

 

...and they are playing against Arsenal soon and we are gonna thrash ya *grins*

BTW...how DOES Scott not get eliminated. He is more pitchy than the home ground of Arsenal and Manyoo put together!

Personally.....I.d rather be in a sport I can participate in......Bowling! I guess none of you are bowlers? There arent any soccer fans in this house! I wish I had a spring break!
Tho....if things work out I should be going to Hawaii in October! In my vacation league we came in first for the 3rd year in a row so we have 3 trips coming to us since we havent taken them. First place is a choice between 8 days in Hawaii or a 7 day Carribean cruise...we will do Hawaii first then the cruise.I dunno what we will do for our 3rd trip tho. Either way it should be fun!

I think Bohemiam Rhapsody was his best song. I would like him to win he's my fav! He's the best male singer and Carrie the best female. That Vonzell is closing in on them tho. She's getting better every week!

 

i dont remember which one Bohemiam Rhapsody was. i dont know most of the song names but i'll remember if i hear it..

anyway, any predictions on who's going out on wednesday? (i know it's a bit early) scott will definately be in the bottom 3 but he might not go out again. I mean, he has somehow survived to be still in the competition..

 

Bohemiam Rhapsody was probably the group Queens number one song. (it came from an opera I'm told) It goes something like this.....Momma....I just killed a man....put a gun against his head-pulled my trigger now he's dead....momma...life has just begun but now I've gone and thrown it all away.... Sound familiar? Last line is 'any way the wind blows.....'

Now its getting tougher, The bottom 3 I think Scott Anthony and I really couldnt even begin to guess who would be the third......whoever performs the worst out of the other 4.But....then again that doesnt mean anything lol!

They are saying over here that the gay rumors about Anwar hurt him supposedly because he had a lot of votes from the women and since that story came out a lot of them didnt vote for him this time around. Who knows.....
