So I live near the Los Angeles sub urban area and I'm looking for better internet. I've been interested in time warner for a while now however, the reviews I keep seeing is their customer service is bad, the connection drops, bad customer service and random price increases. So does anyone here have it is it good?

I am in Southern California and Time Warner is horrible they screwed over a lot of my friends. I have had Verizon DSL for years now and I am really happy with them. If you bundle services you can get a good deal ask them what kinds of promotions they have when you call Verizon they always do. As far a speed there's different options but its affordable. Fios is really fast See http://www.verizon.com/

Let me know if you get a better deal.

We spend time in Hermosa Beach (TimeWarner) and our neighborhood enjoys good services. We also spend time in Dallas (AT&T) and Philly (ComCast) and internet access suffers from more drops and hours of outages.

There is a litany of finger-pointing excuses for all of these, but TW; gives us the best 'reviews' of outages - they will describe whatever fixes they performed. AT&T and ComCast refuse to disclose ("We rebooted your neighborhood cell..." is usually what happens) and often try to say, "We have no record of your 18 hours of calls to us for the past three days. I don't see that Case Number." Grrr).

They all have problems, but TW gives us better service than the other two, and we have TW in Austin and NYC.

As long as Congress refuses to allow us true broadband competition, then we're held hostage by one entity or another. I'm always praying Google and FIOS will kickstart real competition for GOOD service.

My dad has FIOS in Texas and loves it.

Unfortunately, I live in another suburb of Houston where the choices are Comcast (the lesser of the evils) or Windstream (ugh!).
