anyone seen MDM.EXE

Hey there,

Have an XP pro with sp3, have noted in the device manager a file which is all upper case. "MDM.EXE"

Have read several things online about this file but am unsure as to why the file extension is all in uppper case, some research suggest this file is o.k although it could also be malware and not a windows file... the fact that the whole file name is in upper case is a concern though... any ideas:confused

It is ok and it does appear in Task Manager in upper case.
Unless you have a specific system problem you should forget about it. It is the Microsoft Debug Manager.

...I remember old windows 98 was it used to have an issue with mdm.exe - if the unit was being a pig and not shutting down you could still open task manager kill it and then it would shut down..a litlle bit annoying but it was good if the p.c didnt have the 98 shut down patch installed...
