Ive seen a few programs online, but none of them look too good.

I've not used any hotkeys to open drives but you could use something like NirCmd and then assign a short cut key to it.

    I use Tray Commander.

I use a tiny exe file (no install) that sits on my desktop. It is called cupholder.exe
I downloaded one from a different site and it is not the same program (my AV flagged it) so I'm not posting a link.

I found mine and tested it on my XP computer. The icon looks the same and it open and closes my drive.

scroll down towards the bottom and download "The Cupholder" .

Can you hotkey to it? I just want to Control, Number or something, can't believe Windows doesn't have this...

On the 'CD burner XP' program, they have an open and close button on the GUI, it would be nice if they could just make a separate program for this.

As I posted before. I open and close my 3 CD/DVD unit trays using my f8, f9 and f10 keys using Tray Commander. It loads on windows start-up and resides in the system tray. No icons to click on. It's only $14.95 from Ardamax software. Here's the link.

    Here's one I use.
    Wizmo 1.1
Wizmo is a simple multi-purpose, miscellaneous tool, with a growing list of uncommon but useful features and capabilities.
Here are some key features of "Wizmo":

    · blackout - blackout monitors(s) while leaving them on.
    · desktop - blank monitors(s) to the desktop color.
    · blank - Activate system's screen blanker.
    · autoblank= - Enable/Disable timed blanking.
    · monoff - Power off system monitor(s).
    · standby - Place the computer in standby mode.
    · hibernate - Cause the computer to hibernate.
    · logoff - Logs off the current user.
    · exit - Exits from Windows.
    · reboot - Exits then restarts Windows.
    · open - Opens/ejects system's CDROM.
    · open= - Open/eject specific drive.
    · close - Closes system's CDROM.
    · close= - Closes specific drive.
    · volume= - Set system's audio volume (0-100).
    · mute= - Enable or disable the system's audio.
    · play= - Play the specified wave file.
    · wave= - Set the wave volume only (0-100).
    · shake= - Specify mouse sensitivity.
    · quiet - Suppress Wizmo's action sound.
    · graviton - Activate the built-in screen saver.
    · and more.

I won't quote a link as it is a non-MG listed program, plugging another download site. You can search for it. ;)

It works quite well for ejecting CD/DVD's, but I've never has success with loading/closing CD/DVD's. Works with W98--XP--Vista-->W7 Ultimate
