Why can't everything be this simple? And yes, Void Tools Everything is another one that causes me to cringe over MS' alternatives.

Now if we can just get a freeware Event Viewer notifier :D! Shouldn't this be part of somebody's swiss army knife, along with temp monitoring and drive monitoring (like HD Sentinel) and simple temp file removing? Yes, go ahead and include a search tool if you can do it as well as Everything, which I kind of doubt.

    Comment for the day

Nirsoft utilities have always been on my pc's. 'Everything' is now that I've learned of it. Fastest way to find anything on any device connected. I also like Nirsoft's dll page for descriptions and dependencies of dlls. If something shows in the fulleventviewer you can look up faulting dlls on the dll.nirsoft page.

As for a freeware Event Viewer notifer check out this read and link -

Thanks Imandy. I might try it. What I would really like is a small toggle window next to the system tray that I could use to monitor them. Then add some pop ups for each Critical/Error/Warning. Then the small window could be set to open automatically if there were a large number over a user set amount of time. :)

Someone will write it someday, or at least I can hope. Thanks for the tip.

I would bet there is already a solution even if probably a commercial (not free) one. And possible a open source also, just you and I haven't ran across it yet. In my work - HVAC - we can have systems monitored for faults and the owner or on call techs can get a email of the problem, and I'm sure sys admins have the same capabilities for campus wide or corporate wide setups. Some levels of Windows above what I have may even have this kind of capability built in. I've never had above 'pro' of anything, so I don't know what's in enterprise, corporate, server, data center , ect editions. If I remember right "SpiceWorks" has some deep monitoring capabilities, but even the lower priced suite is around 69$ if I remember right.

LOL. Always had Pro for XP and W7 but no W10 yet for me. I think I can install it on free on one PC, because I installed it around the cutoff date to look at it. Just can't be told when to updateo_O That's the problem w/10 for me. Used 3.1, 95, 98 SE, XP, and W7 over the years.

Youre right. Someone probably has made this app. Imagine it's part of some $1000 Admin program. Then again, I'll keep my eye open.

Thanks for the ideas and for your input. Only thing is I don't want to spend money on software for now. Not sure why, but I guess I would rather save and see what comes along.
