I know this will mean nothing to the USA MG members, but are there any Commonwealth country MG members watching the Aussies kick a*se? Bazza

Watched the womens Triathlon yesterday, in which AUS came first as they should followed by NZ and UK, the gymnastics today I caught a bit of and a little of the swimming.

BUT my focus is on the Malaysian F1 GP from Sepang tomorrow :)

Hi Halo, UK and India are going well. The Scots surprised the Aussies by taking the first 2 swimming gold medals. Aussies are lucky that each country of Great Britain enters separately, otherwise tallies would be different. I noticed that one of the Sierra Leone athletes was admitted to hospital with Malaria. Bought it with him from SL. I had malaria twice while there so I can sympathise with him preparing for the Games and then going down with Malaria. Bazza

Exactly the same here, I'm only 15 but I've watched pratically every race for the last 8 or so years. I have never had the pleasure of actually viewing one for real though :( Just out of interest, what do you think of the new qualifying rules??

As for the commonwealth games, I have missed a large section of the events due to being at school so this year I'm not quite as spirited as I normally am ;)

Personally me I thing they are much better than last years... effort!!! I also think the re-introduction of tire changes at pit stops was the best thing they could have done a it adds back the team sport element of things going wrong at pit stops ( re Massa and the duff pnu tire gun ) as it saves us having to watch 20 pit guys falling asleep as the camera pans on them like last year ;)

I still think they need to remove driver aids such as TC and possibly Semi Auto gear changes and bring back some more skill.. TC... I know from experience gives you some major leway in making some bad driving errors, especially in corners.

You must see a race live ...ok you dont see as much as you would on TV but the noise and atmosphere is awsome.... but if you do get to one also record the race as you will only see a limited part of the race... the bit of track your viewing.

But I have to say Womens Gymnastics or Swimming is a close second to F1 ;) :D

I agree totally with you.. Espesically your 2nd favourite ;)

Pit stops in F1 look a lot better now rather than just having the re-fueling, The driver aid should all go, Expecially the way they can just press a button and they automatically pull away. Starting was a lot more fun when there were stalls :D

Very true, the sport is in danger of becoming like a video game... "some" skill in relation to the starts as you say has been lost, TC has made cornering easier.

I went to the finals of comm games rugby sevens. what a HUGE day and night.

Telstra dome 1/2 the crowd are Aussie 1/4 of the crowd are kiwi the other 1/4 were other nations.

what a feast of international sport.
kenya uganda wales scotland england fiji NZ tonga aussie safrica samoa canada

had the half nude haka from the tonga team.

so the gold medal match is NZ V england and as much as I hate to admit it I just had to support The Kiwis.

about 1/2 way through the second half the chant started
KI....WI KI.....WI KI.....WI the dome shook, my seat was vibrating..... man it was major..

Good on the team from NZ. played it hard, tough, fair and fast. ( and flogged the poms which is always good)

we got home about 2.30 am......... well satisfied.

Cuaght a bit of the F1 race live on TV. Just in time to see Mark Webbers car suffer an engine blowup. Makes a change from his driving mistakes but he is getting better.

Me, I prefer the V8 Supercars. Bazza

The mens 4 x 100 metre medley was awesome to watch, especially considering Australia won. :p

Missed that one, Channel 9 was not being broadcast in Cairns at that time, thanks to Larry and revolving power cuts.
The memory I will take from the games is the lady that came third in the Ladies Marathon. "Dead" on her feet, running the last few yards / metres on memory and adrenalyine (sp?).
The applause from the 80,000 crowd carried her. She collapsed after crossing the finish line and had to be carried away. Awesome lady. Bazza

Well, now they've finished. 11 days of jingoism. Aussies came out on top as per usual, for the Commonwealth. Most gold medals, most overall medals, etc. Broke their own record of medals won 4 years ago in Manchester, UK.

Still some great individual performances. The Canadian gymnast who won 6 gold (equalling the most ever), Aussie track star expected to win 7 gold, she "failed", only won 5 gold and 2 silver.

A bit of sour grapes from someone from the USA, alluding that the USA would have cleaned up. So they ought to, with at least 10-15 times the population of Australia.

New Zealanders a bit disappointed that they did not do so well as 4 years ago. Still they finished 9th. Not too bad for a population of around 3 million. One seventh the size of Australia.

On to India in 2010. Bazza
