My lease is up 4/5/2005 and I am planning out what im gonna do, right now I know I want either a Ford Ranger or Explorer, probably used 2004 model or 2003. The Ranger Edge with the 400W sound system definately has my attention I would want the V6 4x4 if I go that route, explorer I want the V6 but I might get stuck with the V8 so I could get the options I want, I drive around a lot for work and really dont want a V8 a big waste.

But anyway anyone hjave any experience or recommendations with these vehicles, I see lots of older ones around so it looks like they last a while. Let me know what you think as long as its not biased because its ford and not your choice of brand, I live in southeast Michigan there is lots of Ford/Chrysler/GM bickering around here and my Uncle works for Ford so Ford is my first choice, plus I already have good credit standing with them.

All I would say is don't let the sound system affect your choice. These are peripheral accessories and can easily be changed, unlike say the engine or bodywork.

    Wookie,

Those Rangers get terrible gas mileage. I bought a used one last year to drive back and forth to a campground, I kept it a week and took it back.

I like them, have several friends that have one, but they eat the gas.

Price is the biggest factor, the explorers start out about 10,000 higher than the rangers new, F-150's are even cheaper. Id rather an explorer but Ill probably go with a cheaper car. Maybe even a F-150 because of all the extra room.

V6 four-wheel drive. It wasn't just mine, as I mentioned before two of my friends that have Rangers told me when I was looking at them that the only thing they didn't like about em was they use alot of gas.

I just looked and the Explorer is rated to have worse gas mileage then the ranger.

    Wookie,

Test drive a Ranger, some dealers will let you keep them overnight. It might give you an idea of how much gas mileage you are going to get with it.

We might be used to getting better gas mileage with other trucks. I know I wasn't getting 17 city 22 highway.
