AOL problems

Does anyone know what's up with AOL connectivity? I do not have AOL software on my home computer (on purpose), but I do on my work computer. I only access AOL from my home computer to check my email. Last night at work, I could connect to AOL using their software, but it took about 5 minutes to load the welcome screen and then I could not go to any of my favorite websites using AOL. I then tried typing in the addresses I wanted to go to in my IE browser, I was able to access any site I tried to visit. I have had slow problems with AOL in the past, but nothing like this. Today at home, I am having the very same problem with connecting to AOL email program without using their software.

I chose the Lounge to ask this question, because none of the others seemed to fit my problem. If the Lounge is the wrong place, please accept my appologies.

Moved to Software as this will be better area and not gain you any smart arse replies about AOL.

I dont have experience of AOL, but one quick thing to try while waiting for someone with AOL experience on similar issue to pop along, is to delete both your Internet Temporary files and Cookies, some corupt files in those areas can cause pages to hang, not load.

Hello , Lady-1, Welcome to Major Geeks.

At the risk of howls of protest - AOL is good.

In order to comment on current connectivity you need to post location. You may not want to do this but it is often very helpful in replying to all sorts of problems. Look at mine it is local, without being specific.

One thing I am not clear about are you using AOL as provider or just accessing an account with them?

Your best line of attack is patience. If the problem does not go away post again.

Meanwhile just think of all those Orange customers who are totally cut off whilst the powers that be argue over UK local loop unbundling.

I haved added my location. I am just accessing my account with them. They are not my provider. At one time they were my provider, for many years, so I still use my email address with them at home and use their software at work becuse I started with them and I like the ease of use. I already had the software on my work computer and did have on my home computer, but when I got a new one I did not put it on my new computer, I like AOL but I hate AOL at the same time. I hope this helps.

Don't know about Notts I'm afraid, but AOL was working OK in Devon today.
Perhaps Manchester Man might like to comment, Wayne?

Still having major problems. The link below is an example of the trouble I am having. The links toward the top are the AOL ones and I am having trouble opening them. The links toward the bottom, that are not AOL links open just fine.

    Here is another example......

Are others having trouble opening them?

I am almost certain it is not my computer or my computer at work, I think it is an AOL problem. Any idea?

Not all the AOL links work for me either.

One particular one, with a video says "sorry the video download is not available in your area"

Clearly AOL want to dump customers fast.
