Aorus 3080 Driver Ridiculousness... Grrrrr

So... for a while now my PC will go black, everything (including RGB) will stop. After about 10-15 seconds it will come back on and will continue. This happens only when I am running a game, doesnt particularly seem to matter what game. I am usually watching something on one monitor while gaming on the other. I have tried all sorts of drivers but nothing seems to help. The ancient drivers that are on the gigabyte site, various ones through Geforce Experience. It didnt always happen. I found this in the event viewer...

The error is fairly daunting sounding and makes it sound like the GPU is screwed. I hope not. y other thought is my PSU is acting silly. its 800w Corsair. I feel like it could be a power spike. What can I do to find the cause? I even reset everything in attempt to problem solve.

My PC is Ryzen 7 3700x, Aorus 3080 Master 10g Rev 2.0, 4x16gb G Skill Trident Z 3200, ASrock ab350m Pro 4, Samsung 2tb m.2

Sounds as if you have ruled out drivers. Do you have a different gpu to test if it has the same issues. Or maybe a different Pc you can install the card into and test it there. That can tell you if it is the card. BTW....be sure to uninstall any unused drivers for that card that may still be in place.

 

You mean using DDU in safe mode to clear drivers? I do have a gtx 1070 somewhere or other. I suppose it couldn't hurt to give that a try.
I wish I had another PC I could test with. I bet I have enough parts to build some kind of PC to test with but that's a project and I'm not sure the benefits would be worth it.

 

I suppose you could use that, but I was really just talking about any previous driver/software from programs and features.

 

What exact model? It very well could be the PSU.
If it is the PSU, downgrading to a GTX 1070 will not task the PSU the same as the 3080.
