apache http server help

    hi, im busy writing www.i-CONICA.co.uk, i have the domain, ive looked at a few http servers to use as im planning to host it myself problem is i have no idea how to set the server up, ive installed it and i can see a conf file but that just seems to be full of text and not much else, its maybe just not what i was expecting to see, buttons and settings to change, any tips guides tutorials? thanks in advance :major i-CONICA :major

    If your running linux you only need to start the Apache daemon which in my case is "httpd". I added it to the "daemon" line in /etc/rc.conf

    You should go through the "httpd.conf" file also to make sure the services you want are available.

    If your doing this in Windows, I don't have a clue.

    i am running windows i considered running linux fedora core for the server because of the security and stability peace of mind but im not as familier with linux as i am with windows so i opted for a fully updated xp pro, i could use vista but i think xp would leave more free resources. :major i-CONICA :major
