    Hi,

I just ran all the recommended steps on the READ AND RUN ME FIRST thread. During windows XP shutdown it is saying that the following program is not responding and needs to be shut down. Any thoughts?

    app.bl87yElQuTvEqlk4yz4YZQ.6

Was this message occurring before you ran the READ & RUN ME?

If you ran the READ & RUN ME, where are the 4 logs that were requested?

This may not be a malware issue.

I did not have the issue until yesterday when i accidentally clicked on a bad link and a whole bunch of pop ups started to come up everywhere. since then it has happened during shutdown including after the READ ME FIRST. I have attached the 3 MGlogs files and pasted the HJT below.

Edit by chaslang: Inline HJT log removed. READ & RUN ME sticky not followed.

Please attach the requested logs in the instructions. We do not ask you to post any logs from the C:\MGtools folder and please do not put any logs inline. Here is what the cleaning procedure said:

Your problem does not appear to be related to malware. My best guess is that it could be due to AIM6. I suggest that you do the below which will take care of a few outstanding other issues and then we will stop AIM from loading at startup.

Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

    Uninstall the below software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 2
Viewpoint Media Player <-- should have been uninstalled in step 0 of the READ ME

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Reminder] %WINDIR%\Creator\Remind_XP.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HP Software Update] C:\Program Files\HP\HP Software Update\HPWuSchd2.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Aim6] "C:\Program Files\AIM6\aim6.exe" /d locale=en-US ee://aol/imApp

After clicking Fix, exit HJT. And then reboot your PC and do not run AIM!!!!!

After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

Now try shutting your PC down again and see if you still get that message!

After the above shutdown, please run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it.

    Then attach the below log
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!
