Hmmm,I'm not even gonna get involved in the 'superior' arguement, but it sounds like a really expensive way of getting a windows based computer :)

    Underpowered eh?

Blows your current hardware away :D

    Core Duo 2.0 >AMD64 3500+

Count in the 20in. LCD, and webcam, and the price isn't so far off from a similar windows machine, especially if you have a student discount :)

Their graphics card leave something to be desired, but then, so do any integrated solution.

The best integrated solution Apple offers is the X1600.

PowerMacs don't have that limitation, but aren't yet Intel-ized.

There are Geforce 7 series cards for PowerMacs atm.

Yonah, which is the mobile version.

Conroe is rumored to be used in the PowerMacs if/when they get switched over.

I don't want to get involved in this Windows/Mac arguments, but I have to say this. The reason it was twice as slow is that Photoshop on Intel Mac with OS X is running under emulation mode using a software emulator "Rosetta".

All PowerPC applications have to get converted in order to run natively on the new MacTel's.
