application error

Hi

I am new here and read some of the threads that were similar to my "application error" but couldn't find a solution.

Anyway I hope someone can help me my son has a report due next week and needs this computer to start running right.

Everything I click on gives the message:

"The application failed to initialize properly (Oxc0000143). Click OK to terminate application."

Here are just a few of the applications I tested.

gwmenu.exe
sysocmgr.exe
rundll32.exe
mmc.exe

I also have to hit cntrl+alt+del to shut it down.

This is a Gateway Laptop with WindowsXP Professional.

Can anyone help with this problem?

I would really appreciate it.

https://service.gateway.com/s/issues/1-706896914.shtml references the gwmenu.exe file, obviously it's a Gateway Menu file of some type. I couldn't find much on sysocmgr.exe and there's so much stuff listed for rundll32.exe and mmc.exe that listing it would be impossible. I did search for your error number at Microsoft and got only 4 hits, and they all pertained to a display driver issue. You could try to uninstall/reinstall the video driver, or maybe a system restore to a date before this problem started will help...

Thank you! I went to service.gateway.com and followed the instructions and it solved my problem. Thank you very much for your help. Now he can start on his report.
