Are my batteries dead forever? Laptop batteries

    I have two laptop batteries that have been "lost" for about a year. I just found them and tried to charge them up since they were just dead. I have tried to charge them for 24 hrs but the best they get is 2% charge. Are they just plain dead. Anybody want them if they are?
