For the first time since I can remember, I did *not* go out shopping or buy anything online Thanksgiving Night or Black Friday Morning.

Aside from money being a bit tight, I really didn't see pricing that seemed that exciting. Strip away the few blowout loss leaders (like the $98 32" TV at Walmart), and nothing seemed like it was at a "must buy it now" price.

I'm interested in what others think about this year's holiday season deals. Please vote in the poll and or post your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

I honestly didn't even look. There is literally no price they can put on anything that can make me leave my family and friends to go shopping on a holiday. And I refuse to deal with the 99% of people shopping today who are words I probably can't use here.

The only "really good deal" I saw was at Target - for only $99 buyers could get themselves a Nikon L320 digital 16 MP camera, which is usually regularly priced at around $230.

Other than that I didn't really see anything that great and/or that I might actually want, as well. Additionally, I actually (generally) try to avoid shopping events such as Black Friday like the plague.

Aside from these types of events potentially being degrading shoving and shouting matches they can be downright dangerous, too.

I wanted to replace my Rayban sunglasses (broke) but the price had gone up to $195.00 for polarized.

I got an e-mail this morning (from Rayban) offering a 30% discount and a free 4gb flash drive and free shipping.

The total was $137.00, so even though I would never consider going into the madness of Black Friday shopping, this was a good deal. (all from the comfort of my easy chair.):-D:-D

I won't shop at a brick and mortar store on turkey day, but I did order a pair of New Balance boots on Wednesday night... On sale for $40. :cool

Other than that, have not seen anything worth buying.

The very next logical step in the evolution of these shopper events would be to stage a "WrestleMania" type Grudge Match with everyone squeezed into a giant ring in the middle of the store.

And then the winner gets a $500 dollar Gift Certificate and a free ambulance ride home (if needed)! (lol)

Or a reality show... Black Friday Valet Parking. Meet the drivers. :-D

You know one valet driver would mess up, get a ding on the car, then the shoppers descend on them like sharks in a feeding frenzy.

First Colony Mall in Sugar Land (Houston), TX actually offers valet parking (for a price) and rents reserved parking spaces in one of the parking garages.

Note to self: Go to mall next Black Friday and stand near Valet Parking area with camera phone in hand. :-D

You may be onto something. MMA and WWE are downright boring compared to watching women in polyester pants slugging each other over a $98 TV set. :-D

    Jousting for parking. :-D

Would make a good reality tv show.

I got a $15 ladder at Home Depot.
Also picked up 4 ft T-8 fixtures to install in kitchen.

    LOL gman863!

The funniest "shopping incident" I ever personally witnessed was between a register clerk and a customer at a grocery store.

The customer who was ahead of me was (quite visibly) upset because in her opinion; the line was taking too long to move forward. It escaped her that this situation was obviously something that the register person could do absolutely nothing about. Anyway, when she finally got to the head of the line the clerk put up her hand and said "I'm sorry, this register is closed!" with quite the broad smirk of her face. Well the upset customer went ballistic and started grabbing chewing gum and candies and rapid-fire chucking them at the register girl - who picked them up and threw them back at the customer. They went back and fourth for a few minutes before the security guard at the store finally stepped in broke it up.

OMG I was laughing so hard my side hurt afterwards. It was so silly, seeing them go at it like that... It was like being in a Marks Brothers or Three Stooges movie or something.

I found a 1300 dollar TV for my aunt marked down to 600.

Thats about as festive as I got with Black FightDay.

I think the deals were pretty pitiful this year. I got tons of emails from different retailers and there was really nothing of value that I wanted, that I would consider to be a good deal.

I thought for sure the deals this year would be the best yet, you know to try and get people to come out and spend their money considering consumer shopping has been down this year but they were really kind of sucktacular.
