    Dear All:

    This is the second computer is infested with a pop-up that says, " Your computer is infected. Windows has detected spyware infection ..." The lower right task bar has a red round X icon. Shortly another pop-up appears which reads "AntivirusPro 2010 detected ... " Searched the C:\program files and could not remove the antiviruspro2010. My Norton antivirus is partially non-functional. Searched and removed all the items associated with AntivirusPro in the registry. Ran all the tests from MajorGeeks and was able to delete the AntivirusPro from the program files.

    The red icon is removed and the pop-up stopped after all the Majorgeeks programs.

    This computer is on a network. Can this virus propogate to other programs or computers? The Majorgeeks programs removed a number of viruses. Help and I'm scare that this will affect other computers as well. Please advise and thanks in advance as always. What should I do with the other computers in the mean time? What is my staff doing?:confused

    You managed to catch it in time. Use windows explorer to find and delete:
    c:\documents and settings\peter\Application Data\juqixekoh.dat
    C:\Documents and Settings\peter\Local Settings\Application Data\abyk.lib
    C:\WINDOWS\gubyk.db
    C:\WINDOWS\ifef.db

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    Hi TimW,

    Thanks for the reply and really appreciate your time in helping me.

    Deleted four files. Are these files necessary to run on some of my programs? Did not clear the recycle bin yet. Enclosed is my new mglogs.zip.

    No pop-ups and seems to be running. What should I do?

    Thanks again.

    Hi TimW,

    Sorry, just had a pop-up again : AntivirusPro_2010. Ran Malwarebytes and Superantispy. The Malwarebytes removed the virus. Did recheck the directories (4 files) again - no reinfection. The Combofix removed my Xerox "Touch-One" drivers. Should I stop using the IE Explorer?

    Enclosed are the new files for your perusal.

    Thanks again.

    I do not understand why you are using uTorrent on a business computer. Not a good idea.

    Yes, you may wish to use Firefox as your browser.

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    * Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    * If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    * Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    File::
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp\gnserv.dat
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp\hpslps~4.log
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp\spnserv.dat
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp\spserv.dat
    C:\Documents and Settings\peter\Local Settings\Temp\Addtorunonce1.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\peter\Local Settings\Temp\click.wav
    C:\Documents and Settings\peter\Local Settings\Temp\Deleteregistrykey.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\peter\Local Settings\Temp\Deleteregistryvalue.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\peter\Local Settings\Temp\Demorestart.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\peter\Local Settings\Temp\Getappversion.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\peter\Local Settings\Temp\Getosinfo.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\peter\Local Settings\Temp\Killapplication.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\peter\Local Settings\Temp\Setregistryvalue.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\peter\Local Settings\Temp\~OT4D.tmp
    C:\Documents and Settings\peter\Local Settings\Temp\~ot9a.tmp
    C:\Documents and Settings\peter\Local Settings\Temp\~otc2.tmp
    C:\Documents and Settings\peter\Local Settings\Temp\~otc6.tmp

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    * At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    * You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    If it asks you to overide the prvevious file with the same name, click YES.
    * Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif
    * Follow the prompts.
    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\ComboFix.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Hi TimW,

    Sorry about not being able to access the computer for the past few days. Ran all that info that you need. Did I do this correctly?

    Thanks.

    Hi TimW,

    The Norton AV picked up the some virus/torjans. Could not export them to you because they were not in txt format. These were picked up from the system restore folder. Thanks.

    Your logs are clean. The only way to remove malware in the system restore folder is to toggle that. We will do that now.

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real-time protection. They are useful as backup scanners.They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    8. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures in step 3 the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore ato create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
