    I read somewhere the tv station called the fcc to verify names, and an intern had verified them. I can't seem to find the article now though.

    Colemanguy: I too saw the article that stated an NTSB intern gave the names to the TV station. The station's apology is mainly based on the fact they never reviewed and/or phonetically spoke the names in advance of reporting them which would have raised a red flag.

    Rikky: I agree with you, especially since everything in the crash points to pilot error. I worked at the local NPR affiliate in news while I was in college. There was actually a bulletin board (the old cork kind) hidden in the newsroom where reporters would post their twisted takes on stories that were not safe for air, work or the FCC.
