aspire death

My daughter has an Aspire One netbook. It started giving her problems and she told me that Acer told her that the bios was corrupted and she needed to run some type of repair. She went and downloaded the bios repair and she followed their instructions but now it is dead. I bought her a new one and sent her off to school. My question is this... Can I reload a replacement XP O/S so i can run my house sound system, Netflix, ans my security cameras. I have all the hardware for these programs and I know I need to install rca connectors foer the security cameras. Can anyone tell me if I can wash the harddrive and reinstall XP to fix the bios issue. Thanks :major

 

Well, if the BIOS repair corrupted the BIOS, that is bad new. But, there is a way to try and recover and do a reflash.

To format the USB flash drive you can use the HP USB Disk Storage format utility.

And does dead mean absolutely nothing on the screen when powering on?
