ASRock 775 Dual-VSTA memory problems

I recently purchased the latest flight sim and have since experienced regular system crashes and lockups. After many weeks of tweaking and diagnostics I have now located the problem yet have no clues in how to solve that problem. I would therefore appreciate any pointers.

The problem I believe is memory orientated. I have a 775 Dual-VSTA motherboard and 2gigs of ram (2x1gb ddr2 from two different manufacturers). Having removed Igb stick, the flight sim performed slower but did not crash the system. I tested both sticks individually and both channels individually without a problem. Only when both modules were combined did the system lock up.

Could memory compatibility still be an issue even though individually both memory sticks worked well, and if not how can this problem be resolved? Thanks in advance.

 

According to your manual, you need 2 sticks of RAM that are identical (type, brand, everything). That could be the problem. That is a pretty neat idea having the DDR and DDRII slots, if I am looking at the right board. Also double check and make sure you are using the right slots. (page 17)

No problem, you can just send the offending stick of RAM to me.

Just joking, you can probable sell it and get some money towards buying one that matches the one you keep in the computer.
