    Hi there MGs

My PC says that I have a CR ROM in drive D: --- It lies, I have no CD ROM. How can I get rid of this?

I do have a DVD drive in E:
and hard disks in C: and F. and G: and K:

What I would like to do is assign the hard disk drive (K:) to be the drive D:

To do this I need to remove the imaginary CD ROM.

    Any ideas?

    Goto Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Disk Management.
You can right click the Drive and change the Drive Letters there.

I'm not sure why XP is telling you that you have a CD-ROM if it's not there.
Unless, you had one in the past and it was replaced with the DVD drive.
Try highlighting D: then choose File>Options and wipe that disk profile, if available.
You can also move D: back to say Z: and then change K: to D:
After changing drive letters, reboot at least twice for the new letters to take hold.
