Assistance Needed With Game Elements Recoil Controller

I am looking for some help with my Game Elements GGE909 Recoil Game Controller. I can get it to work and everything and have learned to not mess with the recoil while using it, however, it will randomly act up while I am in the middle of the game. It will act as though it was disconnected when it wasn't and Windows will tell me that it doesn't recognize it. To get it to work again, I have to restart the computer (typically twice) and then reinstall the software from the CD-ROM that was provided with the controller (which involves me unplugging the controller and plugging it back in when prompted and unplugging it when prompted). It is as troublesome as it sounds. When I reinstall it, I get a message that says something about the controller's software not being approved to work with Windows XP and to contact the vender in order to get software that is approved. What should I do and how should I do it?
