Asus P4P8X Not Booting

Hi,
I was having a ton of trouble. Crital errors when windows was starting. I couldnt have my PC on for more than 20min without it rebooting. I have no clue what the problem was so I started to disable a few things.

Disabled the onboard LAN. Reboot. Nothing different. Remove Nvidia ti4600 card. I go to reboot and realize that my monitor connector is not compatable with my onboard video. So i reinstall the nVidia card back into the box. Reboot. Nothing. No video.

I remove all drives. Reboot. Still no video. Any help? Maybe I should reset the BIOS. Cant i flash the eprom?

Personally, I would reset the BIOS, re-seat all cards, memory and probably the CPU. Clean it all up, wipe it and re-install. That is, as long as the data is backed up.

But I tend to opt for the clean install pretty quickly. It just always seems to save time, in the end, and it's nice to be confident the problem is history.

Unless you have a broken piece of hardware... have you tried re-seating everything on the mobo?

What is the temp like about the time it shuts down?

 

Tried all of that and finally swapped the hard drive with an older one. At that point everything worked perfect. So, its either the drive or the windows installation/driver conflict. I cant check the disk because my older drive has win pro 2003 installed and does not recognize the newer(bad drive's) disk and can therefore not check it.

Not sure what to do except install xp on the older drive and then check the newer disk. That is of course unless you have a better suggestion.

 

Win 2K3 should recognize any drives you have installed. I'd say the install on the drive in question is definitely fouled up. If not that, then you may need to flash your bios.
