At a cross road.

Afternoon everyone.

I've been searching on the Net to find a forum that may be able to assist me with an issue I'm having.

In my present role I'm employed to undertake site inspections and fire risk assessments throughout the UK, this involves a significant amount of travel which tends to result in me always falling behind with my work.

No matter how hard I try to keep up I always end up falling behind resulting in me working in my own time to keep up to date.

The main issue is I have to complete my work twice over, first on site taking notes and second typing up the reports on my laptop.

I have tried to speed up the process by purchasing an iPad but I'm only able to take notes resulting in having to spend more time typing up after.

I've tired to purchase iPad applications but they don't meet the requirements of my needs.

This is where I need your help to identify my route forward to reducing my workload.

I've got a baby due in April and need a work life balance.

I need to be able to use the iPad to collect information whilst on site resulting in a report being issued at the end of the site visit.

The form on the iPad would need the following fields and functions:

1, text fields

2, label field

3, a function that creates sub sections bases on the input to a question such as:

Q1, Is there a fire alarm installed?

A = No proceed to Q2.

A = Yes open sub questions Q1.1, Q1.2, Q1.3 and so on

4, calculation function

5, Date function

6, Camera function

and a number of other functions.


I don't know if it will be best trying to learn how to build an iPad app or trying to build a system using windows.


I'm just really stuck.


Can you help me or advise of a please where I can get help with this.
