At last im moving forward with my overclocking knowledge

The last time I posted I was getting slower O/C speeds when I raised the FSB frequency. I knew something was wrong obviously. The cpu is AMD Athlon-64 FX-53 Sledgehammer socket 940. And the Motherboard is ASUS SK8V. The computers default clock setting is 2.4 ghz. Now I only had to change four settings Hypertransport I set to disable, then Memclock I set to limit and changed the DDR memory speed to DDR400 and last the FSB I increased to 210Mhz. Now the computer displays 2.52 Ghz. And its faster and stable so far. There are so many more settings for ddr voltage, agp voltage, v-link voltage and the core voltage to name a few. And then theres the CAS,TRCD,TRAS,TRP memory clock settings. And the Performance mode that the last time I set differently my computer would not even boot. I appreciate all the information here on Major Geeks and especially from the
Tech Gurues. I almost forgot the memory used in this system is Corsair CM72SD1024RLP-3200/S Matched Memory Pairs 1gb. x 4 sticks. And a big ZALMAN cpu heatsink to keep the processor chilled. Thankyou for your help

 

You should run some stability tests on your computer as you increase your overclock. Prime95 is a good one to start with. http://majorgeeks.com/Prime95_d4363.html

What PSU are you using, and how are your temperatures (CPU, ambient, case, GPU...)? And what cooling are you using? Stock or aftermarket. It has been a while since I did much overclocking, especially AMD.

Seems like people had overclocking issues using 4 sticks of RAM. Try just 2 sticks. Be careful with increasing the voltages, as you could fry something! :-D
