Atheros AR5007ug chipset

Hi i have a usb wireless adaptor with a Atheros AR5007ug chipset. which installs and works flawlessly on my vista system. But yes i am also having trouble finding a XP driver for the adaptor. The only place where a solution was reached i think was here.

I have downloaded the files on Rapidshare, any help on how to proceed editing the INF file

I've been having the AR5007UG problem with my Packard Bell Easynote (SW51) that I downgraded from Vista to XP.

Thanks Peckish, I downloaded your Rapidshare files, and I've neary got the SMC driver working - it starts, just can't see any wireless networks! Not that important really

This is how I got it to install:

1. Copy oem1.inf to oem2.inf (so you don't wreck the original)
2. Open oem2.inf in notepad
3. Edit the [SMC] and [SMC.NT.5.1] sections to have the same hardware ID, as shown below
4. Upgrade the driver using Device Manager (as per Annie M's 07-23-08 12:11 post)


Sections to edit:

[SMC]
;DisplayName Section Hardware ID
;----------- ------- --------------------------
%ZD1211B_50U_DESC% = ZD1211B_50U.ndi, USB\VID_0ACE&PID_1215


[SMC.NT.5.1]

Hope it helps. Worked for me, up to a point! Think I'm still missing something to actually turn on my card, as the button on the front to enable/disable wireless doesn't do anything. It's never easy!

Just to add a little more detail.

I couldn't get the Atheros driver t find my wireless network, so I gave up. I endedup downloading and istalling the driver from http://www.wireless-driver.com/download/other/Pluscom-Wireless-USB-LAN-Adapter-80211g-WU-ZD1211B.htm.
