I can't seem to rememdy this problem and I need help asap. My new system runs idle at 63C and at 74C under load. Specs are listed in my sig. I've tried everything short of liquid cooling that I can think of, and I need help/advice badly. I can't find a solid spec on the max cpu temp for this thing, but my temp seems pretty toasty to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Voltage:
    1.49v
    3.30v
    4.95v
    11.84v

    Fan speed:
    5273rpm

    Sys temp:
    43C

You might want to try the artic cooling video card cooler as it vents hot air from the video card out of the case. I recently upgraded to 9800 pro and my internal temps went up about 4 degrees and have ordered the cooler mentioned above. This should help some but your whole system seems to be above normal try cooling the room down a few degrees. Hope this helps.

i strongly agree with beermonkey, that case is really good for keeping your system cool as i recently purchased it and my comp temperature decreased by 15c!!!!!!
the psu supplied it ok but i think a 550W would go well?

I recently had similar temps on my Athlon 3400+ after experimenting with overclocking. Also had overtemp warnings upon bootup. Once I booted into Windows, nothing appeared out of order and all my voltages appeared correct. Solved the problem by pulling the battery and clearing CMOS. Used all normal settings in BIOS and haven't had any problems since. :)

    Hope this helps.

I don't know if i'd buy a new case. Maybe just a little bit higher flowing fan for the exhaust. The coolermaster wavemaster got a really nice rating and it is an aluminum case so i don't know if i'd go throwing that away. I would check to make sure you had good seating on the processor core to heatsink. Make sure you remembered thermal paste on it. I know it sounds funky but make sure your fans are pointing in the right direction. I had a customer at the store who did that exact thing and boy does it f*** with temperatures.

Have you tried ''Artic Silver 5'' Thermal paste as I have lowered my CPU temp by nearly 20 C recently.. if you do purchase i recommend going to their site for guidance on how to apply, and i followed it to the letter and am well pleased. That was on an AMD 3000 XP. Also a case fan that extracts is a great help on Cooling. I'm one of these guys who frets none about fan noise as long as puter cool..as i read so much about people complaing about noisy fans.. I got 4 case fans, 2 in PSU and CPU fan and sod the noise thats computing to me.. good luck if you use the artic silver.. :)

That would be about the running average of the Athlon 3200+ chips using the stock coolers. If you are really worried about it, get another CPU cooler.
But you don't have to worry about it is the bottom line.

well said Toke!! as long as it's cool then the sound it makes is nothing.

you might want to try water cooling - or if you're not into that, see if you can a heatsink/fan that has a high RPM, should help. also, the more fans the better, as i said earlier i agreed with beermonkey on that case - 2 fans blowing in air, 2 blowing out is what i have and i noticed that the chip on my graphics card has cooled down by loads!

I just had a similar problem with an AMD 64 3000 winchester (939 pin) running on an ABIT AV8 motherboard. After install and found it was running around 60C idle and mid 70's under load. I installed a new HS+Fan which helped just a little -5C. I ended up doing a BIOS update which resolved all issues and it is now running idle around 30C mid 40's under load. Hope this helps.

    Cheers,

i would agree in first cheking your cpu seating, i once fry a athlon that way
seecond try geting some copper hs with a nice 80 mm fan on it :p ,i have a athlon thunderbid and those run a hell hot so i bought a stock xp hs alumiun and copper based and replaced the fan with a new 60 mm 12000 rpm fan like toke said noise aint bad if it's cool and now its 40 c idle and 48 at full load
third try making some ventilation in the case try putting to exhaust fans 80mm its fine but if u can put 120mm its better , u can try some ducting too since ur forcing the fan to have fresh air it should lower ur system temp too since ur not recling the hot air inside
try this web for air flow ideas
