Hehe, i wonder how they stack up to nVIDIA... obviously not as well since nVIDIAs been doin it longer.

What do you base that statment on? Speculation, Guesswork or from the Inquirer!

If we follow that train of thought then as Intel have been doing it longer, so they are better?

Obviously because its intel..... no... hehehehe... thats biased though. As for nVIDIA and ATi they are going at each others throughts right now... just like Intel and AMD... and nVIDIA and ATi are almost evenly matched i would like to see which comes out on top of the pile.

ATI has been doing it longer. Much longer. They originally were(are?) OEM cards and onboard video.

As for which is better--they both suck for games, but get the job done for most everything else.

If my memory serves me. ATI has been out for a very long time. Ati survived the Matrox king. Ati survived the 3dFX king. Ati is surviving the Nvidia king.

Note: I'm using an nvidia card.

ATI came out with the FIRST AGP chipset. So, yes, I agree.

ATI has been out for a VERY long time.

Hehe, both suck for games? Then what would you suggest? Ah, i remember all the 3dfx and matrox (we have a 3dfx Voodoo 2000 or 3000 card here...)

    What would I suggest?

    Well for starters, nothing onboard!

Oh, onboard video hehehe, what would you suggest for a video card anyhow?

if you get any mid to top ati or nvidia card you are getting what you pay for, they all perform well,ATM I like the HIS ATI cards because they come stock with arctic coolings nv5 "or similar" factory fitted hsf. :)

I like my 9600XT.... Its still good to me and i can play most games on high. It also has an arctic cooling modified style HSF. Its a heatsink with a fan in the middle blowing air off of it, it keeps my GPU temps Load just around the 50C mark and idle 40C.... No RAM cooling though.

I wonder if an ATi chipset and ATi vid card will prove to be an advantage....

Wanna be humbled? Load Everquest 2 and put it on high settings. That card will choke.

    Such a demanding game...

Ive actually played EQ2, 1024x768@85Hz on all medium settings and got 30FPS, Then put it on 800x600@85 and got 40FPS on all high.
