Hi I'm having problems with my sound system. If I play a CD or music on Media player etc it's fine but I'm getting no sound form videos etc when on YouTube etc. When I go into Sounds and Audio Devices it say there is No Audio Device. My sound card is Nvidia R nforce and my speakers are Creative Labs Inspire 7.1-7900. I'm not very techy so if more info is needed please let me know. hope someone can advise.

    Thanks in anticipation, Malcky

Sounds like (pardon the pun) the driver for the soundcard isn't installed or is corrupt. Check under the device manager to see what indication it gives there ie yellow exclamation marks.

Thanks for responding. Nothing in Device Manager to note. System Hardware Test Wizard says, Your sound hardware cannot play sound.
Sound and Audio Devices Propoerties says, Default Device Modem#2 Line Playback. As I said I'm not very Techy so how do I check soundcard/drivers etc.

Well assuming you are using XP - go to the device manager and scroll down to the Sound,v ideo and game controllers. Click on the plus sign to expand the tree and you should see the name of your sound card in the list that displays. If you do right click on it and check the properties to see if says it is running properly for starters (if not try the troubleshooter). If you don't see your sound card at all then you need to know what sound card you have and download the latest drivers for it and install them.

First there have been several reports lately of Windows update changing audio drivers with unfortunate consequences.

To check on this look again in device manager and see if there is an older driver to roll back to.

Second uninstall the audio, take the card out restart Windows without it. Then put it back in and reinstall the drivers.
If you don't have them get them from

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_audio_4.31_win2KXP

I find you periodically have to reinstall audio for some reason.

Thanks for your help. Might be a bit over my head though. I'm off on holiday for a fortnight later on today so will give that and any other ideas a try when i get home. thanks again Malcky
