Audio Fails - Sigmatel stac9200 under Windows 7

I recently purchased a Radisys Endura EM945g mobo and built a new Windows 7 system using it (detailed info below). I'm using an RC version of Win7 until I can get the full copy with my wife's college discount ($30!!).

I cannot get the audio to work. It's returning this error (This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)). I've perused the forums for hours and tried various remedies to no avail. I have the most recent driver that I can find installed (see below) but was wondering if anyone knew of any 'tricks' to get this to work.

Your audio drivers can be downloaded from this direct link. It's a ZIP file, so it must be extracted before installation. Right click it, select "Extract All" and click "Next" once or twice as needed. When the extraction is done, go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program and remove your current sound drivers if they're listed. If not, go to the Device Manager (click the Start orb, type sysdm.cpl in the search box, press Enter, click the Hardware tab, click the Device Manager button). Then right click on the audio device and select "Update Driver Software"; click the "Browse my computer" option, and point it to the WDM folder inside the extracted driver folder you downloaded earlier. Once it finishes, restart the PC and make sure your speakers are plugged in to the correct port and that they're powered on. That should to it! Let us know how it goes!

Downloaded and unzipped as described. When I go to device mngr the audio device is not listed except in the system devices as "High definition audio controller". When I try to apply the update to this I get "Windows has determined that the driver software for your device is up to date". I also tried "Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer" option and drilled down to the only .inf file in the folders that were unzipped. Then I get "The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible driver... make sure the driver is designed to work with Windows x64-based systems" message.

I also tried this yesterday using a driver set that unzipped into a folder named R147073 that was supposed to be a 64 bit driver (Vista I think) but it does not work either.

 

Thanx for the link - I had problems with the audio while testing Windows 8.1 (public release candidate) and it cleared it right up.
