Hello chaps, first off, I wasn't sure where audio issues would come into your forum categories. I figured my problem could be driver or codec related hence posting here... :) I have virtually no experience with this kind of issue so that's why I came here :D

To my knowledge I have not modified or installed any new codecs or drivers on my PC recently. The problem I am experiencing is that I cannot hear audio on websites such as http://www.youtube.com, www.myspace.com or http://video.google.com/. Otherwise all my video codecs and general audio in or out of video games are working 100%.

It's not the most serious of issues but it's a little annoying and if any of you know what may cause this, or if theres any soloution, please have a stab and let me know!

    Thanks in adavance, VexY

Reinstalling my audio driver's doesnt seem to have any effect, I just updated my flash player version from v7 to v9 and still no luck, I also tried using different web browsers no luck either.

guys, 4 or 5 weeks on and still no resloution, has anyone got any ideas?
I would hate to resintall windows for such a minor issue...
but its starting to annoy me now, I can't hear audio for any type of streamed video/flash apps etc.

These are only fixes I have read on that may work in some cases with Flash Video sound issues that some have,

    1. If you have Quicktime then goto Control Panel > Quicktime Prefs > Audio tab > and under Default Music Synthasizer make sure that General MIDI is the chosen option > Apply.

    2. Involves a registry edit to add a missing wavemapper

Open the registry by clicking Start > Run and typing regedit then hit enter or OK, then locate the following folder below ( marked in bold )...

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32

Then in the right panel ( where you will see icons with red ABs ) right click a blank space and choose NEW > String Value and type wavemapper > Enter > then double click this new value and type in the Value Data box msacm32.drv

Close regedit down and try they videos again.

Warning: before you edit that area of the registry it is always advisable to backup the folder, to do this once you get to the Drivers32 folder right click it and choose Export then save a backup copy of this registry folder to your Hard Drive somewhere as editing the registry is not to be taken lightly.
