Hi everyone, I'm new to the site and was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem I have.
I have recently connected my tv up to my PC using a HDMI to DVI-D cable. This has a 24 pin male connector going into the back of the PC and the other end goes into the back of the tv into the DVI port. I then connected up the audio using an RCA lead plugging the red and white connectors into the DVI audio input and the jack into the audio of the PC.
The problem im having is no sound through the tv. The picture is perfect and the audio through the monitor speakers still works but no sound through tv:cry.
My graphics card I have is a NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS and my control pannel says my audio is through SDoundMAX digital audio. I cant figure out what to do any help would be much appreciated. Here are the cables that I have mentionedhttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330807901781?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230848702494?var=530076077657&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2648

Im not 100% sure but When you say you have plugged the audio in via the RCA, do you mean the Red, White and yellow connectors Phono?

If so, they will probably be a different input on your TV; hence no sound. I have a similar setup at home in that I have my PC hooked up using a DVI to HDMI cable for the picture. I then have a separate surround sound speaker set that I plug in with 3 x mini jacks. I dont actually run any audio through the TV.

What TV Make and model do you have?

I think the cable that you are using is really for display use. Personally I would've invested in a converter that would convert the graphic card from DVI-w/audio to HDMI. That way the HDMI would pick up both Audio and Video from the pc directly to the TV. This is just my personal view. Unless someone has a better and easier alternative.

Unless your GPU supports audio via HDMI (In which case it would have an HDMI out) you wount get audio through your Graphics card. Ill have a look at TV manual and find a suggesition

Are you connecting the audio with the stereo minijack that looks like this
http://www.bax-shop.nl/downloads/downloads/forum/review_daan_kabels/mini_jack_plug.jpg and is located to the left of the DVI in?

Or are you connecting the pair of RCA cables that look like this
    http://www.computerclinicliverpool.co.uk/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/e/a/easytouch-et-9026-2xchinch-m-2xchinch-m-10-0m_2.jpg
and are located to the right of the DVI in?

The RCA connection is an audio output and is nothing to do the PC. You need to use the minijack input to the left (according to the manual)
