If you have a child in need of help because he or she has autism, I recommend you don't use this agency known as Autism Initiatives. They're blooming terrible. None of the people they recruit really have any understanding of the condition. The staff in general also don't get treated very nicely.

I was reading an article on a site about how a woman working as a support worker in either Edinburgh or East Lothian was using foul language and saying to a client, "Do I look like a Jack-in-the-Box?" because they asked her something. She got laid off.

I myself, I had first hand experience with them as well. Way back in 2008, my first ever key worker told this male support worker who joined that summer, that I was leaving adverts on Gumtree about my ex, so he eventually admitted to using a nickname and emailing me tons of rubbish to rile me up. Stuff about a deceased wrestling star, my ex of course, and referring to 80's pop songs. He left in 2010.

Granted, not all people are angels, no matter the profession where they're expected to behave accordingly. But maturity certainly comes into question with these care personnel. So I'd definitely boycott them. The Action Group might be a better alternative, although I contacted them years ago and they didn't seem to want to know.

The NHS today is a joke. They cut back on the help too, so it's gonna be a struggle for a lot of folk, especially with this Cost of Living bullshit. It's only gonna get worse before there's any signs of an improvement.

There must be some sort of government complaint organisation, like a "watch dog" that can help in this instance? Here's an example in one Australian city:
MAKE A COMPLAINT | Health Complaints Commissioner (hcc.vic.gov.au)
And another city in my state:
Health Care Complaints Commission - NSW Health Care Complaints Commission

I reckon I could probably do a search for a commission in any of our Australian states to find some Complaint service in my country - so you should be able to do the same?

People, in general, seem to have changed for the worse in the past 20 or so years!

What makes a state “best” for autism services can be subjective and depends on various factors, including access to healthcare, educational services, support networks, and resources.

As a mom who not only lives colorful on that spectrum and has 2/3 kids on it, I can tell you a thing or two about how awful all of the local resources are. But it isn't just here, multiple places have a huge gap in available resources or proper training, even though the testing criteria shows that the prevalence is much higher than originally thought. As for National organization specializing in Pediatric Autism resources, Organization for Autism Research (OAR) and Autism Society of America are generally considered the best. Autism Speaks is considered hot trash.

On a personal/local level, they're good with testing and diagnosing here - once you've lucked on to someone who can get you over the first barrier - feels like most resources become DIY within a few months after the follow-up course though.

Luckily, I still have access to my NGO support worker who's been brilliant throughout the process.

    Hi, legalsuit.

What is Australia's stance on cyberstalking / abuse?

There's a person in Perth who pesters me online a lot, having been obsessively bothering me for 7 years. I didn't want to cough up the cash to get him dealt with, as they charge steep hourly rates. But it seems the cops there don't act on overseas reports.

I find that many of the different Spectrums of Neurospicy overlap in a lot of ways and places. Nobody is all one thing. It's possible that Neurodivergence IS the neurotypical and we've all been faking it to conform to societal norms for so long, that we prejudiced ourselves into thinking otherwise.

I'm not normal. Normal is bland. Normal is bananas and saltines so you don't throw up. I'm thai food. I'm going to burn in and out of people's lives and they're either going to love me or hate me. They need to pick one and let's get going.

I've contacted social services numerous times, but they just ignore me, or they think of a way to fob me off.
